Also read a few on holiday, including House of Bone and Rain by Gabino Iglesias (brutal but awesome) and Fourth Wing (great to read about dragons while on a beach)

Morning Womble! Paused a couple of horror books I don't quite have the right brain for right now, so having tea & investigations with Thara Celehar in The Tomb of Dragons by Katherine Addison. Love this series.

Morning Womble! Still on The Reformatory, which is going well but I think I'm going to have to find something lighter to read before bed. Fortunately I have a few unread books around here π

Morning Womble! I'm reading The Reformatory by Tananarive Due, which so far feels like it is going to explore horror in many different ways

Reading Mr Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan, trying to sneak another book in newbie the end of the year.
I think my favourite read of the year was Murderbot. Doesn't matter which one, just: Murderbot π

Morning Womble! Read Grackle by AC Wise yesterday, which was excellent and had a lot of creepiness packed into a short length. Still trying to decide if it's a ghost story or not

Afternoon Womble! Been tidying up the bookshelves today so no time for reading. I did find my copy of Annihilation though, so that will get read soon!

I reckon that, personally, I'm more interested in what the characters *believe* is true, rather than what is true for that universe. If they believe in rules, that can make a story work regardless of whether the magic obeys said rules.

Spending the evening reading The Dark Between the Trees by Fiona Barnett. Unless it gets too scary in which case I'll have to switch to something else

Life admin is interrupting reading this weekend, but reading highlight is Camp Damascus. With an honourable mention for Murderbot (but when is Murderbot not awesome?)
