Modern social media seem tailor-made to turbo-charge all the worst impulses of humanity.
It makes the malignant personalities more extreme and increases their reach. Trump would have just been a generic rich asshole without twitter.

Racist Americans want it to be a lab leak because they get a weird hard-on anytime they get to blame China for things.
China wants it to be a lab leak (from the US) because it doesn't look great for it to have come out of a wet market they were, in theory, already monitoring.

Look, man, just tell me how many donuts I need to eat to clock out early from this shit.

Every time something happens, the Schumer-wing of the party says "this isn't the right fight to have right now."
Somehow, the right fight and the right moment never seem to arrive.

Whoa, let's not get hasty here. There are so many more stern letters they could try sending first. I'm sure Trump is just one finger-wag from Schumer away from cleaning up his act and stopping all the Fascism.

Trump is the ultimate post tortoise. He shouldn't be on top of the post. He has no idea how he got up there; no one does really. He has no idea how to get down, but we do.

I think a lot of Americans, even liberals, lack the imagination or historical background to really *understand*, deep down, what it means to live without democracy or rule of law.
For a lot of people, but especially the bored suburbanites that drive MAGA, this is still an exciting game.

I think you're right, sadly. Kennedy himself is a real nutter so he might actually believe all that shit he says. But everyone else I think the plan is to strip-mine the US, convert their soon-to-be-worthless dollars into Euros, and fuck off to a tropical island somewhere.

Having grown up in a right-wing Evangelical church I can tell you from personal experience that there is an alarming number of people who want to take life back to the 1840s. They don't *want* a functional government, they want to live like racist homesteaders and own women like property.

Pyramids is simply the most logical shape for the question of "how do I make a big pile of rocks that doesn't tip over?"
The specific architectural details are quite distinct from culture to culture and there are, in some cases, thousands of years separating them.

It's *because* they're such a small group that they're the perfect political targets. Fewer people to fight back directly and a lower chance the targets of the propaganda will actually *know* a transgender person in real life.

I'm not a fan of Schumer and I admit I'm not optimistic about him overall. But I'm not going to finger-wag at this sort of action just because it should have happened sooner. The best time to start fighting was several months ago, the second-best time is now.

Hell, at this point I'd accept someone born after 1960. I forget where I saw it but I saw someone say the dems were run by "gently-alive corpses" and that's stuck with me ever since.

He has dementia. I really don't think there's any way to argue against that. Watch 10 minutes from his tariff speech compared to his announcement in 2015.
Verbal complexity is rock-bottom and general coherence isn't far behind. Dementia runs in his family too, as it's what his father died of.

You can stockpile some long-lasting food and certain personal supplies to ride out "small" problems. But there is nothing any one individual can stockpile that would be sufficient to cover for a prolonged collapse in trade and economic activity.

Which is an excellent point. People have been investigating deep sea mining since the 60's with no real concrete commercialization plans to date. It's in a similar boat (pun not intended) to asteroid mining: we could have been doing it since the 70's but the math has yet to add up.

This is completely overlooking the ecological impacts which would be devastating. But MAGA just sees More Heavy Industry = More Good and stops thinking.

And it makes a reasonable degree of sense, at least in the abstract, particularly for small island nations like Tonga with limited options otherwise. But there's really not much American industry stands to gain given that we have well-developed sources for these products already.

I like watching Air Crash Investigation and all their thumbnails these days are just the most garbage AI slop imaginable that they don't even bother trying to match to what happens in the video.
It's everywhere these days. I hate it.

Dems didn't run on defunding the police. Biden and Harris and the rest of the mainstream dem establishment explicitly ran on how much they loved the police and thought they were important and it was totally wrong to say they should be defunded.

You know Jesse's career is going well from the way he has to beg for attention from indifferent people who don't like him very much. This is something all the most successful political writers with a strong future do.

Obstructing ICE is similar to obstructing the SS. It's the moral duty of all free people.

If you want to reach out to people who don't already agree with you, you need to go to where they are.
To be fair, this is *really* easy to screw up if you aren't careful. But it can be done.

Also, it means that the Right Wing media machine hasn't poisoned the well. We have the chance to introduce new terminology and be the ones to drive the discussion about what it means.
