Copyright laws *absolutely* can be better, and I personally consider it a fucking affront to nature that a Corporation can even *hold* copyright (or that copyright can be transferred), but no copyright at all would be *so much worse*.

Oh, copyright is *absolutely* a corporate cudgel (any system that requires court appearances always is), but smaller creators *regularly* force corps to stop using their work (or pay them for the privilege) because of the threat of copyright lawsuits.

Smaller creators have *absolutely* forced larger corps to cease using their work using copyright (and publicity) as the threat. It certainly doesn't work all the time, and the laws could be *so* much better, but it does work at least some of the time.

At *no* point did I claim that copyright needs to be stronger. I only claimed that copyright is *necessary* under capitalism, because without it, corporations have absolute free reign to take everything you make and take all the proceeds. It doesn't have to be stronger, or even as strong as today.

If Capitalism falls, I'll be the first to put copyright against the wall and execute it, and I hate that corporations get to hold copyright, but *no* copyright means every creator is a free smorgasbord to big corps like Disney.

Look, I don't *want* to like copyright, but then I think about how easy it is *now* for corporations to just take small artist's work without payment, and I think about the world where creators *don't* have copyright protections, and I realise that while capitalism stands, copyright must stand too.

I would even be so bold as to claim that "cancellations" generally have much more to do with creators proving their inauthenticity than it does having "wrong politics".

It certainly feels like a lot of people are conflating "My audience disappeared" with "I said something my audience called me out on!" with "I'VE BEEN CANCELLED!!!", when those things are *not* synonymous.

This gives us a very unfortunate conclusion that the Greens are dependent on the Liberals to do at *least* mid to win seats. Shitty Liberals == No Greens.
I hate this conclusion, but the Greens didn't do *that* much worse nation wide! I'm not seeing a better explanation!

Surely, you just write a bunch of non-ensemble stories, then stitch them together! I'm sure that's how it goes! Can't see *any* problems with that approach at all!

Remember, though, the AEC *aren't* police - they are election administrators. They refer all breaches of election law to the federal/state police, they have *no* enforcement powers whatsoever.

I don't! I also don't pronounce the second r, because my variety of Australian English is non-rhotic. If you're asking how I pronounce the second *vowel*, that's just an unstressed vowel, pure schwa for me.
