Swallowtails are exceptionally early this year but they have a long flight season so we should be fine (as long as we get 16C+ on the day!)

Funny! I have exactly the same experience – they nest on the flat roof of a school opposite me and whizz around very noisily every day. Lovely birds.

The Monarch butterfly was a close second with the fabulous Fen Raft Spider an unexpected third. Bringing up the rear in 10th place was the Tongue-biting Louse.
