This Knife Crime Awareness Week is a powerful reminder that we must keep pushing for change. We need serious conversations about prevention, education, and the role of social media in young people’s lives. There’s no single solution - but what’s clear is that we must act.

Kemi is very bad at this but... ... I'm not sure that even the best opposition leader could overcome the legacy of the last govt. It offers a pretty unarguably comeback to anything you do

Kemi Badenoch says Labour MPs behind Keir Starmer "look sick" about the Prime Minister's leadership. Labour MPs immediately point en masse to the ranks of grim-faced Conservative MPs sitting behind her

🐝 Wearing Yellow for Bebe’s Hive on World Bee Day 🌼 Today, my team and I are proudly wearing yellow in support of Bebe’s Hive - a beautiful initiative created to honour the memory of Bebe, and to raise awareness and funds for grief support and child loss services. 💛

Thrilled about today’s announcement 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Earlier today, it was a privilege to be a guest at the Royal Society of Arts’s annual Fellows’ Festival, to talk about building community connections. Catch it here - www.youtube.com/live/pm3ctjQ...

A glorious day for canvassing in Birkdale this afternoon. Residents are delighted to have Sonya Kelly as their Labour Councillor for the Ward, working hard for the community on issues that matter locally.

Thank you to everyone who has written to me about the Assisted Dying Bill. This is one of the most difficult and personal issues we debate in Parliament, and I’ve read every message with care and compassion.

The Conservative Party willfully inflicted catastrophic damage on the country with their flagship Brexit policy. Let’s make sure we hold them accountable by having a frank & honest discussion about the harm it’s caused - in fact Labour should be absolutely hammering them with it

This PMQs illustrates Badenoch's problem - for once she didn't stumble into an elephant trap here but Starmer still landing heavy blows. She's moving into the IDS space of being hopeless without being a weekly calamity.

IMO, both Starmer's recognition that migration is part of Britain's national story, and the warning that without more control "we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together" does a pretty good job of capturing where most Brits are on immigration.

How the inspirational mums who lost girls in the Southport tragedy are working with ‘love and determination to make something good’ standupforsouthport.com/how-the-insp...

I do love Caroline Johnson MP opening her question with the line "When Labour negotiates, Britain loses". Because within the past hour, it has been announced that the UK and India are signing the most ambitious trade deal in history. 😂

Like other figures who've passed from history into myth, Thatcher has become an empty symbol for the Right, detached from her actual politics & beliefs. For a "Thatcher Centre" to cheer on a president who opposes free trade, hates NATO & admires Russian expansionism is almost comically ahistorical.

I agree with this.

I want to send Sergio and David my heartfelt best wishes as they take on the London Marathon in honour of Alice, Elsie, and Bebe. The whole of Southport stands behind you, proud of what you are doing. I’ll be thinking of you every step of the way. Good luck, you have already made everyone so proud

Great piece from my colleague @patrickhurley.bsky.social He is absolutely right on the moral imperative of investing in the futures of young people. Am grateful for his support for my Citizens Advance proposal, which I hope to be able to say more on soon. leftfootforward.org/2025/04/inve...

In his latest column for Left Foot Forward, Labour MP @patrickhurley.bsky.social argues that to turn the country's prospects around, we need to tackle intergenerational inequalities.

In his first column for Left Foot Forward, Labour MP @patrickhurley.bsky.social argues that there is no one-size fits all legislative solution to assisted dying.

This is a very good editorial.

I went to see Coldplay and Terris on a joint headliner of the pub circuit in 2000. The singer out of Coldplay had a sore throat so they didn’t play. I wasn’t overly disappointed, tbf.

Lovely to be invited to attend the Southport Salvation Army’s ‘Spring Sounds’ concert tonight. The Sefton Young Musicians have done themselves proud. 😍

We are doing it! The #EmploymentRights Bill has passed the Commons – a major step toward delivering stronger workplace rights and better pay and conditions. Now, let’s deliver the #NewDeal in full. ✍️ Add your name: labourunions.org.uk/winnewdeal

Right now, the Commons is voting through the Employment Rights Bill, improving people’s working lives. For those who say MPs are all the same, just look at who turned up. Hundreds and hundreds of Labour MPs, whereas possibly only 25 Tories in total.

Delays in funding to renovate Southport's pier highlight the struggle of coastal communities face in securing local investment for growth. A while back, Southport MP @patrickhurley.bsky.social outlined a roadmap for how government can partner with communities to solve this issue.
