I’m honoured to be the new Cabinet Member on Gloucestershire County Council for Public Health, Communities and Fire. Being part of this new @libdems.bsky.social administration and with the first woman leader of the Council ever is an amazing opportunity for real change.

Tories now in fourth place, via YouGov The first time since the nadir of 2019

Brexit has been a disaster for the UK. More isolated, less growth, less influence. So today is a step in the right direction but it has to go further to undo the damage. #Brexit

On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, I want to say to the LGBT+ community: I hear you, I get it, I stand with you, and the Liberal Democrats will never stop fighting to build a country and a world where you are truly free to be who you are.

Yvette Cooper repeatedly refused to give a straight answer just now on Today to straight Q “Will councils get more money to pay care workers more?” She repeatedly committed to higher carer pay but wouldn’t commit to money so councils can fund it. Think that speaks volumes about the mess we are in.

Are we really a nation of strangers? Or are these so called strangers our friends, our carers, our barbers and people just living their lives?

Parliament must have a say on Trump’s trade deal to protect British farmers’ high standards.

And this kind of inequality is all too present in the North Cotswolds too.

Today at #PMQs I raised the reality of poverty and inequality in the South Cotswolds — issues too often overlooked here. The last govt deepened the crisis, and this one is failing to fix it. Our communities deserve better. 📺 Watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2gB... #LibDems #PMQs

Thrilled to sign my oath of office today at Gloucestershire County Council and get the new council term started!

Humbled and exhilarated to be re-elected with a majority of 1237 votes in Bourton and Northleach. @libdems.org.uk #LE2025

Just 36 hours to polling day! I'd be honoured to have your support to keep the hard work going and get a change at the County Council after 20 year of failure from the Conservatives @libdems.org.uk

The stunning turnaround of electoral fortunes in Canada for the Liberal Party shows how standing up to Trump and the far right can reap rewards #CanadaElections2025

Just a week to go to remove the Tories from 20 years of running the County Council! @getthetoryout.bsky.social

Out with the team in Northleach. Thanks for the amazing response! @libdems.bsky.social

Thanks to those locally who've already given their support for my campaign to re-elected as County Councillor for Bourton and Northleach. I'm incredibly grateful. Here's what Archie had to say!

Lib Dems on highest poll rating with YouGov since before 2019 election: Lab 24, Ref 23, Con 22, Lib Dem 17, Green 9 YouGov for The Times/Sky, out this morning.

A positive and joyful event in the sunshine yesterday. The opening of the new play park in Woodmancote for children and adults is the result of inspiring leadership from village residents and help in grants from @cotswolddc @gloucestershirecc and North Cerney Parish Council.

This week I met with Citizens Advice Bureau in Cirencester to hear about the superb work they do for people in our area. Struggling with energy bills, day to day living and understanding help available are all things which the CAB gives advice on. My thanks to them for what they do. 👏

Today marks the start of celebrating 5 yrs of the Bylines Network. 🎉🎉🎉 From 1 publication to 17million reads - citizen journalism is powerful. We’ll share articles and features throughout April. First, here’s our co-founder @mikegalsworthy.bsky.social with what you can expect over the coming weeks.

The county council election campaign has started and I'm putting myself forward to serve the Bourton & Northleach Division once again. I've been county councillor for the last 12 years and am standing on my record of experience, getting things done and working as hard as I can. @libdems.org.uk

A fab 5th birthday celebration last night in Northleach for @cotswoldsradio.bsky.social - here’s to many more years of community radio!

Spoke to a North Cotswolds farmer about the challenges they face. Small margins, TB, tax changes. Not easy. But cattle well cared for and a farmer determined to succeed - plus newly born calves! #farming

The @tewkesburylibdems.bsky.social and North Cotswolds @libdems.bsky.social out in force today in Severn Vale campaigning for @richard-stanley.bsky.social plus of course the Lib Dem dog Rufus!

Speaking at Cotswold District Council about the need for powers to be devolved to the lowest level when local govt reorganisation happens. Need to make sure we keep it as local as possible when unitary councils are set up in Gloucestershire.

Published and promoted by Mike Evemy on behalf of Paul Hodgkinson (Liberal Democrats), all at Priory Farm, Hazleton, Gloucestershire. GL54 4DX.

Tomorrow 4-6pm @cotswoldsradio.bsky.social - three guests and great music!

You might expect the fact that climate change denial lobbyists funded the leader of the opposition and her Shadow Cabinet, shortly before she ditched her commitment to Net Zero, would feature in at least some of the other coverage of her announcement this morning bylinetimes.com/2025/03/18/k...

In Cheltenham race week, here’s the message ahead of the county council elections @libdems.bsky.social 👇

A Trump-Putin pact is emerging – and Europe is its target US betrayal of Ukraine is the rehearsal for a grander bargain with Moscow and an assault on continental solidarity

Short visit to the Netherlands. Amazing cycle paths, cycle parking and car free historic city centres. Not a pothole in sight. Civic pride everywhere. And then back to Gloucestershire where the contrast is stark. Change needed on May 1st! #cycling #roadsafety #potholes

Took 8 months for Reform’s 5 MPs to fall out with eachother - surprised it took so long

Deeply dispiriting watching the White House footage with Zelensky being attacked. Europe has to step up big time. #StandWithUkraine

These sky-rocketing GP waits are a grim reality for millions on a daily basis. The Conservative neglected our NHS and brought it to the brink but Labour's lack of ambition in rebuilding our health service has been shocking.

Today we hear that Thames Water are increasing our bills by an average of £16 a month from April! Such a big increase after years of failure as a company and our local rivers like the Coln and Windrush having sewage pumped into them. This is not sustainable!

An inspiring evening for North Cotswolds & Tewkesbury Lib Dems hearing from Roz Savage MP about her first 7 months in Parliament, her Climate & Nature Bill and providing constructive opposition to the Government. @libdems.org.uk @tewkesburylibdems.bsky.social

Speaking today about the huge deterioration in the state of Gloucestershire’s roads at the County Council meeting. 20 years of the Conservatives in charge of our highways has got to end this May.

Charlie Maynard, "Of the £1.4 billion going to Thames Water, £900 million is going out in interest expenses and advisors fees" "So little of this will fix the problem, it's just a fees fest" "Thames Water should be put in special administration, bankruptcy to you and I"

Apparently I’m a nice person who isn’t on Twitter - I’ll take being nice but can confirm I’m still on X for my sins.

Good to see Conclave clinch best film at the BAFTAs. A serious film, well acted and celebrating difference.
