The same people who have justified the genocide in Gaza by Israel on the basis a country "has a right to defend itself”, are now going to be falling over themselves to condemn any retaliation from Iran.

What a shit week for losing genuine musical legends.

That explains a lot! Heat was a fantastic magazine when first launched. Sharp, insightful and entertaining. It somehow found and filled a pop culture gap which hadn’t been adequately covered by NME, MM, Smash Hits or the monthlies (Empire, Select, Vox etc).

You kept some real gems though. I really loved Kristin Hersh’s Hips and Makers. Hauntingly sparse and beautifully sinister.

But there’s definitely no such thing as “white privilege”. I read it in the Daily Mail.

How many Orange hate marches will Police Scotland facilitate this summer? I guess when your own members are taking part in events you don’t have as many ‘safety concerns’.

I’d say the worst gig goers are those blokes who use the enforced close proximity to sexually assault, up skirt and generally degrade/bully others.

Someone needs to step up. His press conference/statement today was notable for the total failure by the media to properly interrogate and challenge his endless spew of bullshit, or hold him account for his and Brexit’s contribution to many of the issues faced by the public.

In a world where Donald Trump was (twice) elected to be one of the most powerful people on the planet I’m not sure “human-level” intelligence is a thing you should aspire to.

I love this. There’s a NYT quote on Ault’s night scenes which sum them up perfectly for me. “In them, Ault has summoned up the poetry of darkness in an unforgettable way—the implacable solitude and strangeness that night bestows upon once-familiar forms and places."

Imagine partying while the rest of the country was in Covid lockdown and then having the brass neck to call someone else “two tier”.

These statistics for England tell their own story. Another Thatcher legacy. Yet many of the generations who voted for the policies which caused this are currently on Facebook claiming immigration is the cause of the housing crisis.
