Ah! how cheerfully we consign ourselves to perdition!

after the last few years i better never hear anyone argue that professionalism is real ever again

The reason Democrats suck so much is that they are paid to.

This is a really important thing to keep in mind: even if you’re not trying to help others, your 2nd or 3rd or 5th symptomless or mild case is silently bringing you closer to diabetes, early strokes, early heart attacks and many more bad outcomes. People are having strokes in their 20s.

As a man, if you believe that men are somehow discriminated against, that says a lot more about you than about how men are actually treated. Specifically, it suggests that maybe you're an asshole and maybe you should consider not being one.

Maybe if I understood why so many people seem to not want to read "dead" books or play "dead" games or post on a "dead" site I'd also understand why so many people don't wear masks during a pandemic.

Very normal person: "I dunno I would read Proust but 'In Search of Lost Time' kind of seems dead, you know? Not many people reading it rn. What's the point?"

Anyone saying bluesky is dead or dying or whatever immediately makes me think of the awful steam forum posters who call any game with less than like 10,000 concurrent players a "dead game" as if the thing that matters is how many people are using a thing and not its quality.

Abolish golf.

Wearing a mask is not “living in fear”, it’s adapting to reality. Covid changed things. It’s a multi system vascular virus that spreads through the air. Its killed & disabled millions. A well fitted respirator is one of the best ways to live your life while safeguarding long term health.

Wonder why we didn’t see this at a million?

Stunning how many people are replying to and quote skeeting this with some variation on the idea that Trump is solely responsible for pandemic failures. The Biden administration ended masking and pandemic relief, privatized covid vaccination, and normalized all of the wellness grifters now in power.

Sleepy Lucy

When you wear a mask, you tell disabled and vulnerable people that their lives matter. That you don’t see them as expendable You tell your others that you value community care You tell the government that you know Covid isn’t over & you want better from public health It’s a symbol of resistance

Billy Joel, who has had Covid multiple times, is cancelling a tour because he has developed normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). There are multiple scientific journal articles exploring a causal link between Covid and NPH, and yet I haven't seen single article about Joel make the connection.

BF Skinner would be proud to know we live in a world where most people (and basically everyone with power) believe in behaviorism despite over a century of research showing its many flaws and limitations. There is, in fact, a meaningful difference between actual empathy and perceived empathy.

Periodic reminder to listen to @deathpanel.bsky.social

MSNBC pulling off the combination "we're all looking for the guy who did this" and spider man pointing at self memes. May they suffer all the indignities and inconveniences Anna curses them with in this thread.

“I thought about how the world can be anything and how sad it is that it’s this.” -- Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Chain-Gang All-Stars

antifascism is hands down the worst group project i've ever been assigned

Looking forward to reconnecting with and subsequently losing multiple friends this week because I think AI sucks and I don't want to get covid! Cool society we've constructed where we've normalized environmental destruction, unregulated theft of all writing and art, and mass death and disablement.

I am under zero obligation to make shareholders richer by purchasing $80+ games when companies treat devs like shit. There are so many amazing indie games under $40 and I'm going to reward them, thank you very much.

You mean months ago when the CDC recommended handwashing for an airborne virus (COVID) & didn’t recommend masks for HCWs? Or shortened the isolation period to appease the Delta Airlines CEO? Yes, it’s even worse now. But understand it’s another step on a continuum. www.npr.org/2025/05/21/n...

One of my favorite versions of mainstream covid denial / willful ignorance is some version of: "Why are there so many more major sports injuries and illnesses over the past few seasons? Must be because the seasons - which are generally the same length they've been for decades - are too long."

I was going to write a thread about the news that Covid vaccines are being limited by the Trump administration, but Jessica's thread already said pretty much everything I would have. Give it a read:

"If you stick a knife in my back 9 inches & pull it out 6 inches, there's no progress. If you pull it all the way out that's not progress. Progress is healing the wound that the blow made. And they haven't even pulled the knife out much less heal the wound. They won't even admit the knife is There."

"I'm not evil, I just got hoodwinked because I trusted the George W. Bush administration" is not a particularly compelling argument.

I guess I care a lot more about the innumerable cancer patients who lost their medicaid coverage in the 2023-2024 unwinding than they guy who set that unwinding in motion.

Stop having parasocial relationships with politicians.
