I was 11 years old, in the sixth grade, living in Seattle, but I remember the quake well. Seven years later I was in the Coast Guard and stationed on Kodiak Island… which also took a severe hit from the tsunami and quake. Now I live in Palm Springs, about 5 miles from the San Andreas Fault.

They also erased the history of the “Windtalkers”, the Navajo native language speakers who help defeat the Japanese in several battles in the Pacific in World War II. They spoke their language which could not be decoded by the Japanese.
