Lol. US institutions have all failed to prevent a coup. They've all been corrupted. They've already been torn down. I'm just waiting to see when the fight back begins. No sign yet...

Of course it used to be illegal, back in the day when the rule of law applied. Now, not so much, in rogue state USA.

Wonder what caused sudden UK gov change of heart. Unlikely to be suffering of the people, as that was off the scale for many months. Unlikely to be ICC as that ruling also happened months ago with no result. My guess is money. Some corporation is losing money and lobbied western govs to crack down.

I think it's safe to say the US is no longer a country of law order. It is a kleptocracy.

If the elections were not honest, how can we be sure Trump actually won then? π€·π»

Unfortunately people tend not to sponteneously 'get over themselves'. They need to be persuaded, through political (or other) leadership, which is sadly lacking here.

Johnson has always been an utter scumbag, now, when he was PM, For. Sec., London Mayor, always.

Was it that the BBC "forgot", or did they cover up and deliberately deceive viewers because the BBC hierarchy promotes Reform UK whenever possible? And should be stopped from doing so!

I don't let them off the hook so easily. Blaming the advisor assumes Starmer et al have no agency, and just follow advice come what may. I suppose that's possible. For me, Starmer et al are the decision-makers, they're in charge, they're calling the shots , they're responsible.

Another day, another example of, "What would the Tories do?" from the Labour government.

I guess some people haven't been paying attention. If you ask yourself, "What would the Tories do?" That's what the Labour government will do. π€·π»

Every constituency with a Labour MP has a coalition of enough progressive voters to elect a LibDem or Green MP instead.
Bearing in mind the explosion of tactical voting in 2024, Labour needs to remember that people can vote them out as well as in.

No longer surprising. Labour now consistently sounding like Tory/Reform. The real surprise would be when they start sounding like Labour.

He *lies* to courts that they can have both. The lie will be exposed when it doesn't happen.

That was when he wanted to give the impression that he was in tune with Labour values. Now he's revealed himself to be in tune with Tory, in not Reform, values.

Doesn't matter who wrote it. Starmer chose it, approved it, spoke it, and subsequently defended it. This RW diatribe is down to Starmer. Other Lab MPs are "concerned". Unless they publicly disown it and call him out, they're damned alongside him.

How many more far right acts will the Labour Party tolerate before they turf him out. Silence equals consent.

Streeting's majority was 528 at the last election. I think it's safe to say he WILL lose his seat at the next one.

Even if it does break bribery laws, it seems there's no one left in USA to enforce them against Trump and his crime syndicate.

So another case of smoke and mirrors. End up disappointing everyone. Give appearance of being right wing (appeal to Reform types - piss off progressives), create exemptions that will leave things as they are (piss off Reform types - progressives still pissed off at Lab for chasing right wing).
comment in response to

This government becomes more right wing every day, separating themselves from their own MPs, their members, their voters, & the public. Seems self-destructive.

Yvette Cooper says, "It is time to end care worker recruitment from abroad." (BBC News). Waiting to hear from social care sector about the imminent collapse of the system, putting even more people back into NHS hospitals - which are having budgets cut. π€·π»

Only if some other authority keeps the president's power in check. Otherwise he can do whatever he wants and simply ignore the constitution.

When the rest of the people rise and prevent the dissenters being removed, then we're talking.
