House Democrats need to bring articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem, while Senate Democrats need to bring that chamber to a fucking halt.

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state Keep that same energy of support for her

🗣️ NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL RACISM

👀

I've got issues with Newsom but I appreciate this.

real props to Padilla for everything he did today, this is exactly the kind of confrontation we need to see more of and the optics are fucking terrible for the Trump goons hasn't always been my favorite Senator but credit where credit is due, I hope others see this as a model

What are you guys waiting for to shut down the Senate @wyden.senate.gov @jeff-merkley.bsky.social? Do they need to put you in handcuffs for you to see the urgency of where we are now?

Tariffs + Trump's budget buster bill = everyone pays more to give a tax cut to the wealthiest 10%

States with permissive gun laws experienced a rise in pediatric deaths from firearm injuries between 2011 and 2023, whereas states with stricter laws did not. That's according to a new study published in JAMA Pediatrics. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

I’m having flashbacks

Good work people!

I'm seeing SO MANY similarities between LA and 2020 Portland. The revved-up misinformation, the "city is burning" rhetoric, the fact that out-of-state RW agitators are the ones instigating things and causing the majority of violence. Difference is, now the agitators are federally funded.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

I read all 102 pages and here's what I've learned so far. A few bits: - Bike tax unchanged at $15. - Someone inserted provision for mandatory 12 foot lane widths on all freight routes. - Transit tax boosted over initial proposal. - Big win for "Great Streets" bikeportland.org/2025/06/09/t...

Absolutely right.

Sharing this piece from 2020 with my LA reporter friends. Now is a good time to be asking about weapons use policies for less lethal munitions. My good friend @jlevinson.bsky.social did so back during Portland's big protests and there were plenty of misuses happening.

They shot at a reporter's legs a few days ago from behind while the camera was rolling. This is the same playback as 2020 in Portland but fewer protections from abuse.

As an advocate, the lectures about how people should protest better — "Be peaceful!" "Don't wave flags of foreign countries!" — is so exhausting. There are 100,000+ people out in the streets of Los Angeles. When and where would the meeting be to tell people to stay on message and who would run it?

The last sentence is basically what I was emphasizing in my messages with my Senators & Rep who it feels like are somewhat sleepwalking through this "hair on fire" emergency along with the congressional Dems! I don't get where their sense of complacency comes from and it frustrates me to no end!

Yeah, what a farce!

PCEF delivered 15,000 cooling units installed across the city, 18 months ahead of schedule. We need more of this type of government effectiveness!

One thing that I haven't seen said in the last 24 hours is that the Democratic Party had an opportunity, as an institution, to help shape, foster, and direct the grassroots popular uprising against Trump II. They made a conscious decision not to.

For those who live elsewhere, this is the heart of downtown #LosAngeles. My friends are here. My union is here (sup @wgawest.bsky.social). My teenager is here. People are passing out pastries & singing & praying. All we want is for our neighbors not to be kidnapped off the streets.

Pretty suss that our Senators' offices in DC don't pick up the phone during work hours - No one has ever answered the phone at @wyden.senate.gov's office. I left him & @jeff-merkley.bsky.social voicemail from me asking them to get at least a little angry about Trump sending the military into LA.

ODOT knows how to waste money to line the pockets of their contractors. Fences, boulders and counterproductive highway widening! Wish anyone in #orleg was interested in pressing accountability for their spending before giving more $ the way they are to school districts who have to cut every year.

Just to be clear: peaceful protest is as American as it gets. But when insurrectionists were beating cops in his name, Trump never deployed the National Guard. That tells you everything.

This is the essence.

In today's episode of doomerism isn't a strategy, here's a list of things you can do today to make the world around you suck a little bit less: Pick ONE thing and do it. bsky.app/profile/itsa...

Earlier today ICE agents hit someone with a car and tear gassed a neighborhood, sparking several fires and disrupting businesses. Immigrants, by contrast, did not.

One way to be a patriot right now is not to engage in doomerism. These people are fascists and they’re very dangerous. But they’re also weak, undisciplined, and unpopular. And they’re losing.

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

We should be scared about what’s happening right now in LA—the president calling up troops to subdue protestors without the governor’s agreement.
