Trump just reposted on TruthSocial that Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and was replaced by "clones, doubles, and robotic engineered soulless mindless entities."

This kind of administrative sloppiness at ICE is *way* too common. Data entries are wrong, required procedures and welfare checks are skipped, and mistakes get made because corners are being cut. It’s happening even more with the White House screaming for ever-higher numbers.

Deporting a gay man to Russia is beyond horrific, and yet this admin is happy to do it. And the verbal abuse he describes is abhorrent; and not new. Guards at detention centers, jails, and prisons get away with crap like this all the time. It’s appalling, it’s not new under Trump, just worse now.

Investigators believe the man may have been framed to get him arrested & deported before he could testify in a case where he was a victim of assault. The person who spoke to the AP did so on condition of anonymity, because they couldn't speak publicly. apnews.com/article/ice-...

Let me get this straight: DHS claims they entered a congressman's office and detained his staffer to . . . protect his staff? No way. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/31/n...

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

Astros credibility on injury updates is badly damaged (and that's being kind).

Come to the ballpark and you'll see something you've never seen before. On Saturday afternoon, it was the Astros' head of baseball operations giving a radiology lesson. On another Astros' medical mess - www.nytimes.com/athletic/639...

Joni Ernst thinks it’s hilarious that some people are worried that health care cuts will kill people. I think under those circumstances karma dictates something very, very bad should happen soon to Joni Ernst. Fatal car crash, pancreatic cancer, whatever, I don’t think we should be picky.

“Millions of Americans will lose their health coverage, local hospital systems will face unprecedented financial strain, state operational costs will spike." www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

"If the proposal is enacted, Americans today and tomorrow will be sicker, poorer, and die younger” an $18 Billion cut Only 3 NIH Institutes will remain in place, and even they will have their funds markedly reduced www.statnews.com/2025/05/30/n...

How bad will it be? Catastrophic. Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come. But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget. Speak up now before it is too late. (inflation adjusted $-s below)

At our National School of Tropical Medicine in the Texas Medical Center we’re concerned about the possible return of arbovirus infections and are planning accordingly. See our paper and tweet thread from @integralanswers.bsky.social easttexashistory.org/tours/show/7

“.. these cuts have already resulted in about 300,000 deaths, most of them of children, and will most likely lead to significantly more by the end of the year. That is what Musk’s foray into politics accomplished.” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

On January 6, 2021, President Trump incited a deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol—and yet the plaque honoring the officers who defended us sits forgotten in the basement. If Speaker Johnson won’t display it, then I will. I’m proud to affix this replica outside my office.

Exactly as predicted, now that DOGE has scraped all your personal data from government agencies, it's all being given to Peter Thiel's Palantir. It was always going to be Peter, who has dreamed of dictatorship for decades, patiently built his "political project". 1/ www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/t...

RFK Jr. says the CDC will no longer recommend COVID vaccines for healthy pregnant women. Yet doctors have found that stillbirths can result from COVID directly infiltrating the placenta — even for people whose COVID symptoms were mild or nonexistent. @deldeib.bsky.social‬'s story from 2022:

DEMOCRACY: “We need to become a powerful majority to turn back bigotry & inhumanity amid this fierce urgency of now—not as a coalition of humanity that agrees all the time, but one united to save democracy & to finally realize the dream of so many who gave their lives to save us,” Donna Ladd writes.

Alongside the "remigration" news out of the State Department this evening, this is yet another flashing red warning sign that a major faction of the people running the government are far-right ultra-online freaks whose views are wildly out of step with the public. This is unprecedented stuff.

lmfaooooooooooooo

Friday night news dump; the Trump admin just posted all the Congressional budget justifications, the specifics details of Trump's budget priorities (outside reconciliation). At ICE, the document references "the Administration’s strategy of 1,000,000 removals per year and 100,000 detention beds."

Department of Homeland Security officers invading a congressman's offices and arresting a staffer who tried to stop them is very, very bad. gothamist.com/news/homelan...

Framber Valdez tonight against the Rays: 9 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, 83 pitches, 59 strikes, 42 swings, 13 whiffs, 14 groundouts, 86.8 mph average exit velocity. Valdez’s 83 pitches match Darryl Kile for the fewest thrown in a complete game in Astros history. His ERA is 3.12

Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.

for those who just watched the segment, here's the piece

An incomplete list of Musk's accomplishments in government: 🚨disrupting critical HIV programs around the world 🚨harassing federal employees with insulting emails 🚨paralyzing national parks 🚨firing the scientists working to prevent bird flu Want to add to the list? Comment below!

"Our calculations suggest that the proposed budgetary cuts to the NIH will create a social cost that is 16 times greater than the savings that the administration is attempting to achieve." jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Here's the NIH's proposed budget - from $48 billion to $27 billion. NIAID, current ~$7 billion cut to ~$4.2 billion. The proposed 15% cap on indirect costs remains. Again, these budgets are passed, and our leadership in science, technology, and innovation is gone. www.hhs.gov/sites/defaul...

In case people are amazed/confuses/shocked/whatever by the devastating cuts proposed for US science, technology, and innovation, please remember that autocrats always go after three main targets: 1️⃣ Media 2️⃣ Courts 3️⃣ Academics It’s literally textbook and, yes, it’s happening in the US.

Absolutely devastating and affecting a lot of my colleagues here at @scripps.edu who dedicated their whole careers to coming up with a vaccine for HIV. Which, btw, outside HIV, has led to a whole field of much better vaccines and vaccine platforms.

There has been considerable progress on the HIV vaccine front. Now critical HIV vaccine funding has been cut. “It’s just inconceivable how shortsighted this is,” said Mitchell Warren, executive director of the H.I.V. prevention organization AVAC. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/h...

This is genocidal. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/h...

Raskin: This is a gangster state. This is not basically a legitimate government that is sometimes doing corrupt things. This is an essentially corrupt enterprise. It's like watching The Sopranos. Every day, they get up and they try to figure out how to plunder and pillage the people

RIP Loretta Swit, known in her time in homes across America as Major Houlihan on M*A*S*H, a character she transformed over the course of more than a decade on the show from from a hardass villain to a sympathetic protagonist. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

I don't know if there is a more appropriate goodbye to Loretta Swit, than her last scene in MASH in the series finale. Loretta won two Emmy's for her role as Major Houlihan.

The @rollingstone.com hed is a little more direct than the @nytimes.com. 🤡 www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Musk was getting high on ketamine, psychedelics, Adderall, and ecstasy frequently while on the campaign trail for Trump last year. Multiple sources reported that he was using so much ketamine that it was hurting his bladder, a common side effect. https://trib.al/gV71d4a

An incredibly devastating decision which simply ignores the human costs and blesses the Trump admin's stripping of status of hundreds of thousands of people who entered the country legally — which the explicit stated goal of rapidly deporting those people without a court hearing.

Oh

This case will force the justices to yet again grapple with the consequences of giving broad discretion to a group of people who are openly ignoring the basic principles of due process.

Between this and the Venezuelan TPS ruling, #SCOTUS has now cleared the way for removing more than one million non-citizens who, until now, were *legally protected* against removal. This also ratchets up the stakes in the "third-country" removal case, since many of these folks *can't* be sent home.

#BREAKING: #SCOTUS grants Trump administration application for stay in CHNV humanitarian parole immigration case; lets government deport those previously granted parole. Justice Jackson, joined by Justice Sotomayor, filed an eight-page dissenting opinion. Link to come shortly.
