What happens to the small retailers and mom-and-pop landlords if the Texas THC ban becomes law? Nothing good. www.houstonchronicle.com/projects/202...

worth remembering that when Trump announced a travel ban in 2017, people literally went to airports to protest. Eight years later, Trump announces a new one and it's not even front page news. We're the frogs and the water is getting awfully hot.

What an extraordinary, beautiful thing. Sometimes the only sensible response to scientific discovery is wonderment and awe.

NEW: Nakedly eugenic comments from Donald Trump and RFK Jr have advocates worried that the administration will target people it doesn't want to reproduce. The US has a long history of coerced sterilizations but the White House can limit reproduction in other ways My first piece for @autonomynews.co

In a Supreme Court filing, class counsel in DVD (the South Sudan removals case) say they have yet to hear from the men sent to Djibouti in defiance of a court order, though the judge separately ordered the government to allow access to counsel

Well this is maybe the best thing to have happened to me in this neighborhood ever #SpreadLove

Significant ruling by Judge Boasberg for men sent to CECOT prison. "The Government must facilitate the Class’s ability to seek habeas relief to contest their removal under the Act." Important moment for the rule of law and against government lawlessness. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

NEW: Kseniia Petrova’s attorneys say they expect to reach an agreement with the govt on releasing Petrova pending trial and ask the judge overseeing her criminal case to order the US Marshals Service to expedite her delayed transfer to Massachusetts. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

NEW: Judge Boasberg has ruled that the Trump administration must quickly propose a way to give the 140 men sent to El Salvador in March — some on evidence he says was "flimsy, even frivolous" — proper due process. w/ @joshgerstein www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

BREAKING: Chief Judge James Boasberg finds that those people sent to CECOT under the Alien Enemies Act on March 15-16 had their due process rights violates and certifies them as a class. He orders that the government "facilitate" the ability for them to seek habeas relief.

🚨 CBS reports that Trump has signed a new travel ban, with its most harsh bans on entry targeting 12 countries, and lesser restrictions targeting 7 more. Unlike the first ban, this one is also targeted at Haiti, Cuba, and Venezuela. We’ll need to see text to know what the restrictions are.

I’m so excited to return to The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert! I did such a great job last time, they asked me back a mere 8 years later. #TheLifeOfChuck

1/ New in the Abrego Garcia case, the Judge has just granted his lawyers' request for permission to file sanctions against the government, which is very unusual.

“I would like to cure brain cancer. I think that's not particularly controversial.” Be that as it may, the NIH terminated that scientist's grant. Here's a huge survey of the 2,500 grants that NIH has killed or delayed...so far. Gift link: nyti.ms/43Jz1yJ

Nature ran a piece finding that 25 million people could die as a result of ending USAID. This puts Trump and Musk in the category of the most brutal leaders of the 20th century in terms of unnecessary lives lost. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

great, provocative column from larry tye on what it took to defeat the american nightmare of joe mccarthy and the ism that bears his name. along these lines, may i also point you to the 2nd season of my podcast, “ultra”: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/r... www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Long COVID destroys teenage lungs in ways doctors never saw. Emerging evidence shows COVID can cause lasting lung damage in teens—even after mild cases—impacting school, sports, and daily life. Their developing lungs respond differently than adults', raising long-term health concerns.

I worry that not enough of a big deal is being made about how long-term the devastation of these budget cuts to our scientific and health agencies will be, beyond the absolute ruin they will cause in the acute period.

A Florida weatherman telling his viewers he can no longer be confident in his forecasts due to cuts to atmospheric science is the kind of resistance content I’m here for. Kudos, Sir.🌦️

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE. Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it. Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

It might not have gotten through to Hawley, but this great line from @kateshaw.bsky.social really landed with the Hawley aide sitting behind his chart as she said it:

HAWLEY: Let's see the Trump chart. You don't think it's a little bit anomalous that Trump has so many more nationwide injunctions against him? KATE SHAW: A very plausible explanation you have to consider is that he's engaged in much more lawless activity than other presidents

The attacks on Harvard are attacks on millions of people who die from TB, infants with health issues, and veterans struggling with ALS…

“Our project was awesome. It was part of the largest investment the National Institutes of Health had ever made in TB. It was honestly the most satisfying science I’ve ever been a part of because it was really working.” But now, “all the data and knowledge” her team has gathered “is gone”.

Harvard researcher Dr Sarah Fortune was only two years away from creating a vaccine that could have saved the 1.25 million people killed each year by tuberculosis. But last month, she received a letter telling her that the $60 million grant funding her research was being halted by President Trump.

Since the 1940s, the engine driving U.S. economic and military competitiveness has been federal support of research universities. Now Trump is sabotaging a research and development pipeline that is the envy of the world.

A brutal 2–1 decision from the 5th Circuit forcing the removal of a young girl to Venezuela even though she has lived in Texas for years and it is the only home she can remember. 1. NEW At least 11 major companies are moving away from doing business with the law firms that caved and signed deals with Trump. Even though some of these companies are led by executives who support Trump, they do not feel comfortable having a law firm that caved to threats representing them.

Y'all.

Communities aren’t staying silent about ICE… 18-year-old Massachusetts high school student Marcelo Gomes was taken by ICE on his way to volleyball practice Saturday morning. No word on where he’s being held. Marcelo missed graduation today, so Milford HS graduates marched to rally in solidarity.
