Quite a lot left has been left on the cutting room floor with this Bill - including piloting judge-only rape trials, changes to the number of jurors sitting on Scottish criminal cases - but lots left. Not proven abolished. Increasing the jury majority to convict from 8 of 15 to 10 of 15.

Internationally, some jurisdictions have extended reporting restrictions beyond natural life. The experience in the Australian state of Victoria provides a cautionary tale about how well-intentioned reforms can have unforeseen consequences in practice. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
