I was thinking that. What's this "turning things around " stuff he's on about? They finished 16th

They've been going on about reopening the link between Colne and Skipton for as long as I've been alive (57 years). I remember when you had holiday specials, proper trains (not the two carriage normal stuff for the Colne line) that you could catch direct to places like Llandudno

To be fair Everton fan was never an option. Liverpool and Everton have a healthy rivalry but it doesn't spill over into hatred

The Waterloo Tap is the best one I've been in. It's about 100 yards from the station though

Then you're not reading what I'm reading. I've never disputed Scotland's independence or right to a referendum. I've expressed a preference that is all. I'm not ignorant of anything and calling someone ignorant is an example of the twittersphere. Have a good day

I'll never defend the "allow" or "let". However others in this conversation are taking this down a Twitter route so I'll bid you happy Sunday.

OK this is beginning to get too much like Twitter which is a shame because it's been an interesting discussion so far. Have an enjoyable Sunday.

How many voted to remain in the Union though?
comment in response to
post
I'm not. I don't have a lot to do today. I would prefer us to remain the UK but if Scotland wants to go its own way so be it. I have no particular dog in this race

See my other comnent about lies and stupidity. Democracy doesn't account for either

Its recognised as a country by the UN

Still voted though. I can criticise those who voted to leave until the cows come home but the country (UK) voted to leave. Democracy doesn't take into account lies or stupidity.

Seems reasonable.

I never said there was a country called Great Britain, there is a country called the United Kingdom recognised by the UN as a nation in its own right.

If they were free then no reason at all but it's tax payers money. And we're not actually your neighbours we're the same country at the moment

Can't disagree with that. The only point I would make though is if a referendum does take place a time limit should be set on the next one. As the last was 2014 another one seems reasonable

So what do you plan to do to fix it? Yes people lie before a referee but it doesn't negate the result: the UK voted for Brexit, Scotland votes to remain in the union.
comment in response to
post
The last referendum was listened to though. If Scotland votes to leave then I would expect Westminster to act on it but at present that vote hasn't happened. If there is another referendum and it's "no" again will you listen to it?

But I'm not challenging democracy, I'm asking if my location is an issue. An I not allowed an opinion because I'm in England?
comment in response to

Does that matter? In the last referendum 55% felt the same.

I just think we're stronger as a union but at the end of the day it's Scotland's call. Might mess up my retirement to Golspie 😔

Isn't this what Brexit wanted though? How did that turn out?

I loved Strasbourg. I used to go a lot to meet with the EU's tech people. There used to be a restaurant in a cave type downstairs to the west of the cathedral but it looks like it's gone now. La Corde a Linge bar next to the canal used to be nice

The entitlement. China doesn't have to admit people just because they are an MP. We need to get used to the fact we are a tiny country in the north Atlantic with no real presence on the global stage.

Do you not think it's ironic that the Israeli government are going to limit the freedom of movement for Palestinians within Gaza? They will need to ask for permission to visit other family members. Perhaps we can give them a badge of some kind to show they are subject to restrictions.

A dear friend who was a season ticket holder at Selhurst for many years died suddenly just after Xmas. I watched the game for him thinking of he would have been there going absolutely mental.

Before European beer became so popular here (yes i am that old) there was a German restaurant called Jägerhütte on Queensway in London that imported Dortmunder. A fantastic beer.
