In this next term of parliament Labor has a choice. Work with the Greens to implement bold progressive policies that will actually tackle the structural problems that are driving inequality; or keep tinkering with the Coalition.

It’s clear that voters want ambition, and they want a parliament that works for them to fix the challenges we face – not one beholden to the big end of town that keeps tinkering at the margins while things get worse. That’s what you voted for. And that’s what the Greens will do.

To our Greens volunteers across the country – whether you were scrapping for votes on polling day in Flynn, roadsiding in Sturt or knocking on doors in Perth – thank you for your contribution to this record result. This movement is built on the backs of dedicated people like you.

To Stephen, Max and their incredible teams: the Greens wouldn’t be in this powerful position without your work. I’m sorry you won’t be joining us on the next leg of this journey.

The Greens are ready to pass legislation that tackles the big issues we’re facing. Climate, housing, healthcare, education, poverty, environment, First Nations justice – Australians want action. With the sole balance of power in the Senate, that’s exactly what we’ll fight for.

This election saw a repudiation of the right’s politics of hate. Australia has unequivocally rejected Dutton and Trumpism, while Murdoch’s hold over our politics has weakened. There’s never been a better time for a Labor government to show some courage and deliver real reform.

Despite an onslaught of disinformation from the old parties, billionaire-funded propaganda groups and their media allies, the Greens maintained our national vote with a bold social democratic platform. Our movement is as strong as ever - and we’re not stopping now.

There's a poverty crisis among older Australians and it's worse for older women, who are one of the fastest growing groups facing homelessness. Older people deserve better. The Greens will ensure all Australians can retire earlier in dignity and with peace of mind.

Change takes time, but it starts by voting for someone who'll fight for you! While Labor & the Coalition take their marching orders from billionaires and big corporations, only the Greens are prepared to take them on. We'll tax them to pay for a better life for all Australians.

Despite the advice of economists and advocates, Labor is too gutless to raise the rate of income support. And if the Coalition had their way there'd be no social safety net at all. We can't expect action on poverty if we keep letting the old parties take turns in government.

Everyone on Centrelink - whether they're an 18-year-old learning a trade, a young mother with a disability, or a retiree without super - deserves a guaranteed liveable income. That's why the Greens are fighting for ALL income support payments to be lifted above the poverty line.

By making free school meals universal across public schools, the Greens will take the pressure off families, and give every kid an equal shot at learning. See our plan for public schools here. greens.org.au/portfolios/p...

A universal program of school meals in every public school will ease the cost-of-living burden on hundreds of thousands of families, improve the health and well-being of our kids, and help level the playing field for our most disadvantaged students.

The Liberals are ideologically opposed to public education because they’re terrified that our kids might be exposed to ideas that don’t conform to their broken world view. The last thing Australia needs is Peter Dutton in our public school classrooms.

In seats like Brisbane and Ryan, the only thing standing in the way of a Dutton majority are local Greens MPs. We’re fighting hard to keep the LNP out and to push Labor to be better.

The Liberals want to destroy public education - they’d prefer that all schools were fee-charging private schools. They don’t get that education is a right. The last thing you want to see is Peter Dutton standing at the whiteboard telling your kid what they can and can’t learn.
