There are plenty of good options out there. Some excellent ones in the comments. It will be uncomfortable at first. But if you keep at it and get over the learning hump, I have a feeling you will like it. Especially if all you want is to turn it on and start typing words

Having said that, I've been running Linux on the desktop for the last 10 years. It's a different paradigm (like MacOS is), for sure. But the fact that I don't have to put up with the nuisances of Windows is the killer feature for me

If Windows is good enough, then that's ok. These are tools anyway. I don't know why people get so attached to a brand (be that Windows, Linux or Mac). Just use whatever gets the job done

Hey Anne. I know the feeling. And I'm a tech guy. I've been fiddling with Linux since 1995. I use it for work (on servers). And I spent countless hours to get the same feeling as in Windows. A lot of false starts. But I can say that the "Linux on desktop" landscape has improved a lot lately

Well, I think it's early days. Once it becomes more popular, the law of averages forecasts that discourse quality will abate. I hope I'm wrong

If there's something you don't like please bring it up, but in a respectful way. Remember there's a human being, just like you on the other side of the connection and besides, you should always treat others as you want to be treated, even online

If someone creates a free service, using their own resources and free time and your first comment to it is "this is crap" or "this is not useful", you're a douche.
