Mostly moths, but then there'll be leafmines and bees and craneflies and..... well, easily distracted by wildlife.

Rather pleased with the front meadow at home. Birdsfoot trefoil now in flower and the first of the Yellow Rattle flowers. Yellow Rattle has gone bonkers this year, a rough estimate of 1500+ plants coming up!!! 😊😊

From last nights trap, a rather smart little Ancylis badiana 😊

Couple of day time moths this afternoon. Treble bar and Psychoides filicivora, Fern Smudge. Had the TIP lure out, hoping for White-barred Clearwing, no luck today but did get the Psychoides. 🙂

Been finding the feeding signs on Hawthorn for a few days, tracked down the case this morning. Possibly Coleophora potentillae? #teammoth

Caloptilia coming up as robustella but it's a gen det job to be sure it's not alchemilla it seems. So either or it stays 🙂

Looking promising 16/8 just on the outside 😃 Notocelia cynobastella, Common Marbled Carpet, Clouded Silver and Least Black Arches amongst them. Cup of tea, then I'm going in 🙂

Found this Coleophora on Blackthorn today. I did wonder if it was one of the C.spinella/coracipennella/prunifoliae identical trio, but I think now it's probably C.serratella? #teammoth

I'm down to 20w, 1 bulb gone, but looking to be a micro night 🙂 Cork moth as i sent the dog out and plenty LBAs and T.acroxantha. 😊

Not much last night but two of my favourites amongst them, Bufftip and Chines Character 😊

Found this cattetpillar in the spun shoot/tip of a St John's Wort . With the pale head and thoracic plate I think it might be Agonopterix liturosa ? Looks like very few Staffs records, so not certain. Anyone with any experience of this one ? #teammoth

Heard of this but never seen it before. Nomad bees sleeping by clamping jaws on to edge of a leaf. Not ID'd it yet but might be marshams nomad. 🙂

Just updating the park moth records and realised that we haven't had a record of Alder Kitten since 2005 so 6 in one night in 1st may was pretty awesome. #teammoth

A solitary Spectacles saved me from sir Terry last night. At Baggeridge however the Carnation tortrix lure arrived, so out it went and 2 Small Bluebell Beauties arrived 😊 A quick check on some Larch for Coleophora to bo available but did find an adult Horsechestnut Leaf Miner 😊

3 coleophora on Birch this evening. The first two pretty sure are serratella, but the last one is coming back as milvipennis? serratella, I guess more likely, but does look different ? Anyone with experience of milvipennis wha could help? #teammoth

Found a Coleophora on Oak this evening could be either lutipenella or flavipennella. Quite excited that I managed to catch a pic just as it pooped. 😄

Alder moth, Dark barred Tortrix ( new park record) White pinion spotted and a Phyllonorycter that could be 1 of about 20 of them ( came to the nig lure.) #teammoth

Well that turned out OK in spite of the heavy down pour. 63/37 at baggeridge including 6 Alder Kittens and 5 Pale Tussocks. Chocolate Tip, Alder moth. Lots of nice moths and I do live Kittens 😊 #teammoth

A possible Caloptilia honoratella this morning snd a real blushing Maidens Blush 😊

A nice Rivulet and a Dark Sword Grass at home. Of the 34/28 at baggeridge this Barred Hooktip was the first since 1990, and a nice Pebble Hooktip amongst them too. #teammoth
