I’d be inclined to ask ChatGPT to summarise it, and then email that to him…

I’m not sure - there’s quite a wake behind (ahead?) her.

Definitely agree from the 1 video I’ve seen. Looked like she was steaming astern towards the river bank at quite a speed, with a nearby tug (not connected?) trying to catch her. Defo didn’t look like a navigational error.

And of course, taken to an extreme, if the water is so deep that it completely fills the compartment, then it ceases to have that affect at all. In some locations (eg below the centre of gravity), it may improve stability

I wonder what they’ve got against black pudding? There seems to be at least 4 or 5 varieties on the list. Cooked well it’s delicious! (And it’s amusing that Italy has loads of entries, against England’s 2 🤣)

Yep- I finished the second episode this evening; completely agree on both points! Once again, a cracking podcast gents.

And of course, those sums suggest department-wide access. Or at least multiple readers within government.

If I’m buying them to eat (with cream & sugar, say) then I’ll buy the amount that looks right, but if it’s for a recipe, I’ll buy the weight I need, which might be one or 2 punnets. And I don’t think there’s an internationally recognised SI Unit that defines the volume of a punnet.

Whereas I followed @proudnavyveteran.bsky.social because I too am a proud navy veteran. But from the other side of the ocean!

When it gets really fun is if I use an American recipe in the AnyList app and try to scale the recipe to reduce the number of servings. (Say the recipe’s for 4, but I’m cooking for 3): 3/4 of 300 g is still easy to measure but 3/4 of 3/4 of a cup is a bit of a challenge! (The app says 9/16th cup 🤣)

Mine look like this. So liquids rather than solids? Although it’s a moot point really, I use metric weights; the cups rarely get an outing.

That’s always puzzled me- the smaller you chop them up, presumably the more strawberries you could fit in. And if you pushed them down, I assume you’d get more in too!

But at least with a rice cooker, it’s generally just one measure, & everything’s in proportion, so one of rice and 2 of water. You can use any measure.

REALLY?? I didn’t know that! I’ve got a set of measuring cups- how do I know if they’re for wet or dry ingredients?

But I thought they had all flocked to Woke sourdough- which is 50% crust!

Yes, I read that yesterday- a great piece. I moved from Twitter to Mastodon about 2 years ago, but very few of my Twitter connections did, so I had to start afresh. Now everyone seems to have decided that bsky is the place to be and this account is suddenly full of familiar names!
