This does not change the fact that a lot of this arguably resulted from screwups in TACO's 1st term, and that the other party would provide far better leadership in this scenario.

Honestly don't know which country you are in. Admittedly US govt is way off in dangerous territory shredding our own Constitution, however I believe that if our other party was in power some sort of similar action would have been required.

I'm not saying cut away, I'm saying maybe don't make it the central hill to die on when the whole country is on defense.

On the contrary, when all our other issues are being ignored in favor of this and this causes us to lose then our other issues lose too. We invented an issue dealing with maybe 2% of the population and it is causing us to lose on meeting the basic needs for everyone.

The biggest mess we have now domestically is our President, who resulted from Boomer Tea Partiers wanting to believe a previous US president was not a US citizen.

I brought up Millennials because we lived through the 90's as well. The 90s was where everything plateaued. The 00s were where we were still riding that plateau but laying the foundations for it all to go to sh!t. End of the '00s you get '08 financial crisis, and after that it is mostly downhill.

Right now the one currently in power is wiping his ass with the constitution. I find that to be the more pressing issue; I would prefer any President from within my lifetime, including Clinton.

Millennial here. If you want people to stop looking at the '90s and '00s through rose-tinted glasses then stop making everything that came after a pile of shit.

I do. Sure, he womanized. Gods know its the only thing the GOP could go after him for, even back then, but the guy actually ran the place within the framework of the Constitution and recognized that he was President of the whole US, not just those who voted for him. That's what I care about.

Has the Constitution stopped him from doing anything yet?

I'd say he's even worse this time around.

Well that introduces a whole new brand of scary phenomena; volunteer militia ICE. They show up, if allowed in and they arrest people then deliver them to ICE it somehow gets sanctioned, but if they aren't allowed in then ICE goes "I dunno who those random dudes were; certainly not us."

You are again resorting to personal attacks rather than staying on subject. As for the biblical passage, I suggest that you familiarize yourself. Numbers 5:11–31. Here's a link. www.biblegateway.com/passage/?sea...

Personal attacks because you can't argue a point once you've been challenged. Typical.

Are you saying that the Old Testament is not still a part of the Christian Bible? Are you saying that the Bible is insipid?
comment in response to

The Bible itself says that if a man suspects his wife's pregnancy to be from another he can take her to the temple where the rabbis give her a holy medicinal mix that will cause a miscarriage if the baby is illegitimate. So biblically it is ok to force abortion on a woman but not let her choose?
comment in response to

Castle doctrine allows deadly force against trespassers on one's property, so shouldn't it be ok, or are you saying a woman's body is not her property?

'm fighting the Right because I'm against unconstitutional overreach, but I've learned from watching the Right that the stated goals are not the scary part; its the interpretation of what those goals mean and measures deemed acceptable to reach those goals that are often scary.

I did the math: if everyone on earth (~8 billion) gave me $50 I would approximately have the same net worth as Elon Musk. ($412.9 billion)
comment in response to

We are not thankful. The numbers are meaningless; unless they're pulling a complete 180 on the behaviors that drove us away in the 1st place we have no use for MAGA here.
Boomers discovering Facebook ruined it. Elon buying Twitter ruined it. We don't want this community ruined too.

Not a huge fan of the whole trans thing but I think you are getting your information from biased sources. Also think that if you are going to try and engage on this platform you should maybe start with topics where the people here are more likely to find common ground, rather than divisive rhetoric.

How about we put it to the test; everyone pitch in enough money to make me the richest man in the world and I will meet with JD Vance and we can compare which of us is happier.

That's not one of the cringe people; I live in a state where its still illegal (not that the city cares) the dude with that sign probably has something decent to sell.
comment in response to
post
What about cringe people who are only working for a better future for their one pet cause, won't show up unless they can make it about their cause, and in doing so drive away the people who are there for a better future for everyone?
comment in response to
post
Individual cringe is fine, but if what you are calling "cringe" turns into something that is keeping others from showing then we have a problem.
comment in response to
post
My issue is not the cringe but rather the allies who are not being allies. The pussy hats who are there for women's rights but then turn into absolute Karens around POC. Trans activists who only show if they are allowed to turn the whole thing into a pride event where they are center of attention.

That wasn't hysteria, rather pointed out that I want to discuss topics, not be insulted by someone who can't form or express their own thoughts so have to act as a walking advertisement for someone else's in the form of a book.

His suggestions would not have won elections. A 2 party system can't embrace leftism because everyone on the left is already voting to save their own life. Meanwhile the right wing voters stay home unless conservatives cater to them.

What are you talking about? Where did I say food growers are out to get anyone? I addressed the part of the equation that was presented in this conversation. If you want me to expand that logic to something else then ask me instead of insulting me.

If I can come to the conclusion myself I'm not going to join a bookclub just to find written opinions agreeing with what I already deduced from the plethora of evidence all around us.

To illustrate the difference:
Despite being wealthy, Saudi Arabia and Singapore were 3rd world during the cold war because they remained neutral. Meanwhile Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador were 1st world despite being impoverished banana republics.
comment in response to
post
That's "banana republic" not "third world." 3rd world is a cold war term for any area that is neither NATO/Western Aligned (1st world) nor Communist/Warsaw Pact (2nd world). The term shifted to meaning impoverished nations once the USSR broke up, rendering the notion of the 2nd world obsolete.
