No it wasn’t a miracle it was a very unusual and unexpected outcome.

But its arguably better than most humans- and other human transcriptions are often worse! Humans make stuff up too. I spent ages trying to find someone called Ruthaine from a census. It eventually dawned on me the person misread Catherine. As a tool to aid transcription GTP is pretty good start.

I made no comment on your paper/work. I couldn’t. I have not read it. I think we both need to move away.

Interesting. I repeat what I intimidated earlier that there is an element of ludditism in some of the previous comments. I was hoping to point out in the right hands it might have uses.
Tone is very difficult to judge in social media posts. As is intonation. No dismissive tone intended.

Lucy, it was a response to the AA comment plus all the comments prior which appeared to me to be rather disrespectful and dismissive. In part in principle. So I guess we all come to new things in our own way. When I have time I will look at the paper but there is an element of ludditeism I sense.

Link your first and last sentences Darren. The answer to your question is “yes and no”. Using
ChatGPT WAS the detective work and very serendipitous!

A few years later she was on the census in Wakefield married to a Yorkshire miner. I asked ChatGPT how it might have come about. It did! Yorkshire miner. WWI. Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to guess where!! Trained dogs in barracks. Met …. Saved me hours and hours and much travelling.

Well AA isn’t really an AI engine. Try Chat GPT
I put this in - its a 18th century will in old cursive script and asked for a transcript…. Took less than 30 seconds
It is also being a big help in my learning Spanish.
I also had a genealogical conundrum…. Great aunt lived in small Essex village/

I have only used ChatGPT and only recently and have been amazed at how good it is. It is a tool and tools are used best by people who know what they are doing.

I can’t see the OP as I seem to
be blocked but this is just a further move at control and authoritarianism we see in our schools since academisation and corporatisation. Overpaid under qualified CEOs needing a cover for their incompetence. Education doesn’t come into it. Control control control.

There was one in the maths building at Salford University in 1974. Once I decided to take a round trip and have to admit I did hold on tight when it got to the top!
Well I was only young.

Its a limit! I had the proof somewhere in the 1990s 😂

We used to csll that“Sum Factors” in the old days of investigations but didn’t insist on Z being bigger than 50. When I talk that I started with working in N then once they worked on a solution, improving the accuracy in R

Did that used to be called Ashby Grammar School?
If so I used to send and visit PGCE students there in the late 1990s-early 2000s.

You specifically asked two people who didn’t know! 😂. I am suggesting people who know about the research are the people doing the research. I suspect there is an awful lot of research out there on what you are interested in. There may even be systematic reviews of research.

Try Google Scholar or better still ask people who know about research on manipulatives, maybe in EY first off. There are quite a few who spend their time in that space.

The real problem of no longer being a wage slave is half terms become those weeks to avoid going anywhere because of the crowds. Anyway most of the “Life Admin” just gets done other times. The strange thing though is Fridays which still remain something of a highlight even though every day is Friday

Haven’t watched it for over 30!years. As Old Nan would say “what a load of old shit”. How they insist on allowing in a country that is perpetrating a holocaust is beyond me.

The interesting thing about simplifications is that they are actually largely inaccurate. That is almost a definition of simplification!! 😎

I suspect a range of things motivate different people. But you are hugely oversimplifying the reality (I suspect you know that Jim!) You know as well as I do.

That’s exactly what I (and Jeremy Corbyn actually) wrote!!
But it means dismantling MATs as they stand. They are currently fostering child abusive practices in far too many places. It was another Conservative fuck up.
