@peterhartlaub.bsky.social is right: Land's End is epic easy hike. 2 of Muni's best lines connect each end, making a loop. 38R-Geary Rapid at 48th/Pt Lobos + 1-Calif at 32nd. Both serve Embarcadero Stn and all N/S lines. Plus great lunch options at 32nd/Clement www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

The best theater in the Bay Area, the Grand Lake in Oakland, committed long ago to never showing advertisements before screenings. (But they do have an organ player on Friday and Saturday nights.)

“That entire generation that fought its way out of the closet and created space for queer people like me, they were our greatest generation,” said Supervisor Rafael Mandelman. San Francisco reacts to the potential stripping of the name Harvey Milk from a navy ship. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/04/u...

This is the best day ever to be in a group chat with people who aren’t online. They react to every piece of breaking news about the beef like you’re Paul Revere.

Fun #TotalSF assignment alert! Rode my bike this a.m. with maybe the most famous person who regularly bicycle commutes to work in San Francisco. Any guesses who’s on this electric bike? 🚴 🌁 ❤️

We explored the strangest quirk of the Dipsea race, the notoriously challenging run over Mt. Tam: An 8-year-old just might cross the finish line first. Very fun collaboration with our photo & design teams 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️💯 Gift link! 🎁 www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

RIP Rocco 🌈 🐾 I wrote how Klay Thompson's dog is connected to Wilmer Flores' "Friends" walk-up music, Manute Bol's 3-pointers, We Believe, the Mustache Gang, Crazy Crab and everything else that's special about Bay Area sports fandom. www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

Trump’s shameful erasure of Harvey Milk’s legacy is a direct attack on the LGBTQ community www.sfchronicle.com/entertainmen...

Run free and easy, Rocco. Forever a Warrior. 💙💛🌈

I wrote an obituary for Rocco. A very good boy, and an opportunity to write about the specific-to-the-Bay Area thing I love about being a sports fan. 🌈 🐾 www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

This is a super interesting breakdown of headline writing in 2025. My editor @sarahfeldberg.bsky.social & I usually collab on hed ideas — often passing them to our audience team for feedback and more ideas. Very different from early in my career when copy desk wrote them - with rare input from me.

🚨NEW: VoteVets slams decision to strip Harvey Milk’s name from Navy ship. “This isn’t just offensive—it’s a calculated act of disrespect.” It's not about tradition. It’s about forcing out those who don’t fit Hegseth’s 1980s action figure fantasy of service. FULL STATEMENT ⬇️

Love this so much!! Read if you’re having a bad day. Or a good day. 🚍 ❤️

Clearly shows that normal traffic backup on the 880 between the San Mateo Bridge and 580. #BayAreaLife cc: @peterhartlaub.bsky.social

Been enjoying the KPIX coverage of Valkyries — the broadcast team is 💯 — but the postgame set is super creepy. Kate Martin beamed in here like a force ghost, but they’re acting like she’s on the set?! She’s swaying & waving to people not in the room? Who wants this? cc: @mingemi.bsky.social

First @oaklandballers.bsky.social game of 2025!!! Just the best vibes here. Hope I see Scrappy the Possum and Mike the Hot Dog Mayor @mayorofoakland.bsky.social. Fuck yeah baseball. Fuck yeah Oakland. 💚🌳🖤

I never would have guessed the new “Karate Kid” movie would be more engaging with a better story than the new “Mission Impossible” movie yet here we are. Really enjoyed it. Retains OG “Karate Kid” vibes but splices in the DNA of the “Spider-Verse” films. (And all movies should be 96 minutes.) 🍿🍿🍿

Same but I’d make an exception if it’s my @sfchronicle.com obituary & they suspend the stylebook just one time to say “Peter Hartlaub crossed the rainbow bridge Sunday after a short illness. He was 92.” 🐾 🌈

Met for lunch with my cousin Warren Fannin — mentioned in this @sfchronicle.com Kezar column ⬇️ — and printed out all his high school football highlights. Lineman of the Year in S.F. in 1951! Polytechnic High class of 1952! Heard a lot of good Kezar Stadium stories today.

Probably the best done show ever on American Television that you never heard of. #MidnightCaller
