I’ve got tix tonight! Are Fagbenle and Salaun both out for Eurobasket?

The Lineup and Midnight Caller are on YouTube (in some cases with horrible transfers) so in some ways that might be MORE accessible than if they were on a streamer?

It was not "Trauma." We didn't include it in the poll and it didn't receive a single write-in. This "Trauma" erasure won't stand!

I was a little embarrassed that we didn't have "The Lineup" on the original poll, which included shows that never shot in S.F. like "Charmed." It finished tied for 6th in the voting just with the write-ins. Think it would have been 4th or even 3rd if we gave people the option.

Our science writer David Perlman worked at the Chronicle from 1940 until his retirement at age 97 in 2017. He still produced a ton of stories but was of even more value as a resource & newsroom presence who made us all feel a little more chill.

For the name they were born with, Woody LaBounty and Tony Bravo are my two favs. (Lots of drag queens in the overall competition.) I also have extreme byline jealousy of @stjbs.bsky.social

Carla Leite best 0-7 three point shooting game in basketball history?

Agreed -- I would have preferred not to call it "easy." It's a moderate hike with a ton of stairs. But most of the very worst of it is in the spur down to the beach, which people can opt out of.

And yet here you are again. Maybe you should just block me? I write a lot about hikes and don’t want to further upset you with my tips to have a great free fun day in San Francisco.

Above all very sorry - wealth disparity and work expectations in this country are fucked. That said … doesn’t your response seem like an overreaction to me sharing a fun hike? A FREE hike a few blocks from 38 Geary stop that pretty much anyone could afford, (And you know following me is optional?)

Thanks Jeff! 38 Geary goes to all the cool places. I’ve always surprised how close it gets to Lands End.

Loved it! I remember we received a gift certificate for Khana Peena when my first son was born. (He's 20 now.) Glad to see the Oakland one is still open. We continue to order there for special occasions.

Great guess!! I’ve been to his condo for a coffee tasting and on a garbage pickup. But this was not Hunter.

I thought this was a hard one! You are correct @snell.zone. There is indeed a Giants broadcaster behind that sweet helmet. Super fun day at work. Look for my story in a week and a half. bsky.app/profile/snel...

Today's children of Dipsea project is my favorite thing I've written this year. So many fun details. (Most of which will brighten your Thursday morning.) The @sfchronicle.com archive delivered. Found photos of children running Dipsea in 1936 and 1949! 🏃🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

Thanks! I didn't mention Bay FC and I'm a season ticket holder! Someday I'll write about my admitted shameful bandwagon Sharks fandom. I was gathering signatures to get an NHL team here in the 1980s and went to a lot of Cow Palace games. Since then I've ducked in and out. LOVE the current vibes.

It’s really frustrating, I agree. I hope the trend passes and new better ones emerge. (How has no one figured out & implemented a la carte charging?) That said, we lost so many good journalists — many because we didn’t pivot or adapt fast enough. That mostly ended when our audience team expanded.
comment in response to post
I appreciate that our audience team doesn’t interfere in how I pitch & write stories so I’m open to their ideas. I’ve watched many talented friends get laid off. If these kinds of headlines prevents one more I’m (grudgingly) on board. And marketing IS part of my job. I hosted 14 events last year!

I dislike "curiosity gap" headlines ("This Bay Area city has the most rodents per capita. It's not what you think"), know readers hate them, and push back sometimes. But I dislike being unemployed more, and now believe they help with subscriptions. I don't know the answer but hope it's Atherton.
