A similar thing was proposed by students in my most recent government class during our mock congress project. Current events persuaded them the courts need a law enforcement arm that is independent of the executive branch.

Stephen Miller knows nothing. My late Grandpa Leo, who was the son of Italian immigrants, fought the Italian fascists & Nazis as an American G.I. in Italy in 1943. I’d bet good money that many of those “boys at Normandy” were also first-generation children of immigrants to the U.S.

Yeesh that is some bad pseudoscience—like, did they think no one would notice?

Dude you don’t get credit for breaking something on purpose and then pretending to fix it.

I have HS students asking me the same thing. I hate that I can’t reassure them.

We need someone from the Dem caucus to name these people so they can be primaried. It's absolute chickenshit to say something like this behind a veil of anonymity. If you're in politics, and that's what you believe, then step up own it---and but if you're too afraid to own it, sit down and STFU.

You could do without the "critics say" part. It IS unconstitutional and dangerous.

If possible, you should run this text through an AI checker. I know they're not perfect, but as a teacher who reads a lot of papers, I see the badges of LLM use here---errors in formatting due to hasty copy/paste, misuse of "principal" because the human thinks the computer screwed up.

The Italian government changed the laws very recently. Anyone who renounced their Italian citizenship to become a naturalized citizen elsewhere can no longer be used for citizenship by descent, even if they had children before they gave up Italian citizenship. I’ve been looking at this too.

Don’t they mean Obama’s plan? The one Trump breached during his first term?

That we haven’t been doing this is shocking. “Destroy the Democrats” has been the only unifying principle of the Republicans since at least 1994.

Either that or he’s a miserable liar who is making excuses for their incompetence

I shared this same sentiment with my advanced government students today, along with this meme (which they didn't recognize--yet another teacher fail)

This hurts my heart. Do we just suck at teaching at them? I feel like I’ve tried everything to act on this kind of feedback from my students, and the response I get is “Turns out I don’t want what I said I wanted after all, will you please go back to the easy/boring/stressful way instead?”

We’ve had to sit by and watch the far right losers in Congress throw sand in the gears since 2011. Now we have the chance to give the same thing back to them tenfold (and watch them implode the world because they cannot govern), and we just won’t do it. It’s no wonder this is what the poll says.
