Half of my family came to the US after being colonized by it through WWII and then weren't even granted the gift of automatic citizenship even when they served this country during WWII, so not sure they'd be happy I gave all that up and fled.

Well sure, but these subdivisions are all moving right up against chaparral and burning mature landscaping becomes embers as well. If houses are built of durable materials and people are willing to be happy with no trees and shrubs but not sure if people would go for that.

I work at a university that does things like land acknowledgements and people occasionally put their pronouns in their signatures, but no one, not even them ever brings it up. If any place was going to have any "pronoun policing" that would be it, but it's just not happening.
