Purchase plywood, cut and label it for your windows incase you have to bunker down, if able to purchase a generator look for a trifuel model, this way you can connect it to the gas line at your home but still be able to use gasoline or propane if you have to bug out.

Deep food suplies, be armed not just on your body, but ready in your home, have every member of your household trained in defence. Plan for fire with alarms and extinguishers,have a go bag with clothes ready for everyone including one with suplies for pets incase you have to evacuate.
