I think this is where AI will bring advances in future. Distant familial DNA matches and subsequent cross referencing can be a very complex and intuitive process, but AI together with an increasing DNA database will eventually mean that more cases like this can be solved.

I'm pretty sure she does understand, as do most in the hanging camp. She's just playing to the gallery.

Over the last few weeks, seen a few quick interviews with him on Look North. Now, I always found him a likeable young boxer, but it's painfully clear that he hasn't got a clue what this job entails, beyond a few rehearsed lines. Well known local figure, he's won a popularity contest, that's all.

I don't want to sound harsh, but he's hardly Brain of Britain. I doubt he'll do anything without explicit instructions from his masters.

Ditto, same here. Tory wipeout.

I bet he insisted on having a badge.

Well, at least some people made a lot of money out of this. Some people also lost a lot of money, but let's not worry about that...

It's like someone found a load of words, then made a story to fit around them. Some 'expert' journalist on the news the other night was sure these fires occurred on a regular basis, so they really ought to have some sort of contingency measures in place. How remiss!

Sorry to hear that, life long anxiety is debilitating. It's a complex issue, and I think Wes managed to cover a fair bit, against a headline seeking interviewer. The Guardian headline is a gross oversimplification of what was said, but unfortunately, that's all many will take from it.

Other half saw GP in Feb, appointment for Osteo consultant surgeon last week, MRI booked for a week on Sunday and a follow up appointment the week after. Something has certainly altered from the experience we had a couple of years ago.
comment in response to post
Follow up appointment came through later today, for 3 weeks today. Not saying there aren't big problems with some treatments and in some geographical areas, but the service here already feels much improved from our last encounter with Osteo a couple of years ago.
comment in response to post
Agree, something has definitely improved. Other half went to the doctor a few weeks ago, saw the consultant surgeon today and has MRI booked for next weekend. Look what Streeting is wanting to cut. It's not clinical staff, he's trying to stop the waste & duplication in NHS management.

It's true that DeGaulle was deeply suspicious of the US, but to be fair, I don't think he liked anybody.

The only consolation is you only see him in the constituency just before an election. He lives 150 miles away.

Something needs to be done about long term unsecured debt. People are being trapped into long periods of debt by negligent lending, unfair terms and arbitrary rate variations, and the burden is often born by the poorest. We need a statute of limitation on unsecured debt interest at least.

That narrows it down a bit. Best not rub it in anyway, it's depressing enough here as it is.

How do you think I feel, he's my MP ☹️

I'm not suggesting they do as Trump wants, quite the reverse. If Trump cannot be persuaded, then nothing is gained, but nothing is lost either.

Absolutely agree, and I suspect he is up to his neck in the European efforts. His problem is that there is still significant rancor towards any sort of cooperation with the EU, and I don't think it's something he particularly wants to stir up just yet.
comment in response to post
Of course, we all know people like that. However, there are also people out there that hear words coming from the likes of Trump & Farage today, and repeat it verbatim as their own opinion tomorrow. It's like a form of brainwashing.
comment in response to post
Maybe, but it's not Trump we are trying to defeat. There's nothing to be lost by massaging his ego in an attempt to keep him onside. Fair enough, it may not work, but there's little downside to this manipulation.
comment in response to post
I could be, if I didn't know some of the idiots personally.
comment in response to post
It's blatantly obvious to us, but there is still a significant contingency over here that like the sorts of things Trump says... and will align with whatever madness he comes up with next.

Starmer has a different public to deal with here in the UK, the French have always been suspicious of the US. Have patience. I think you'll find the two working very closely.
comment in response to post
I doubt Macron & Starmer are very far apart on this.

Nerves, when you know you're spouting utter bollocks.

It was 'rare earths' a few weeks ago, then 'rare earth'... now it's 'raw earth'. I don't think he has the slightest idea what he is talking about, and is just regurgitating buzz words.
comment in response to post
I'm a bit like a broken record telling people to claim, but anyone who says that it's an easy process is talking nonsense. It's very fortunate that there is some very good help out there, in the form of local and national charities, to direct people to.

It should have always required a supermajority, or a majority of the electorate. I'm sure certain parties would be arguing for those rules were we to have a referendum to rejoin.

White House denials now on UK Sky News, but story still up on Bloomberg. What's going on? www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Reports on Bloomberg saying Trump has paused military aid to Ukraine. Here we go.
comment in response to post
The majority of it, I suspect. Macron has certainly made no secret of the fact that he wants more of the overall spend going to the EU defence industry.
