Countdown until Goebbels, erm, Miller pushes an EO to Frump to sign to remove the parliamentarian for obstructing MAGA initiatives.

Watching Glastonbury and can't help think how accurate it is that America's equivalent is the twice failed Fyre Festival

I wish somebody in the front at Glastonbury had a flag that said "America is a fascist country now" or at least an upside down US flag to send a global message of the state the country is in

It's incredible that neither the president nor VP was here. The politicization of all facets of American life is coming from the White House. No other American president would have failed to pay their respects. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

other headline: “Zohran Mamdani's People-Powered Win Is a Rebuke of Democrat Cowardice” wrote this the morning after his win knowing there would be more Dems who treat Zohran as a thread rather than an asset

“What an odd and somewhat delightfully eccentric way to go. If I may, I think there is a valuable “The More You Know”-style lesson to be taken from all this: swallow your pride, not bees.” www.vice.com/en/article/b...

A habit I started many years ago that I would heartily recommend to anyone is this: any time I buy a novel or nonfiction book at a book store, I ask the staff to recommend a poetry book to also buy, preferably by a member of a marginalized community. I can’t tell you how much it’s enriched my life.

This sentence, typed in her dissent, should scare the living fuck out of everyone in this country. "This Supreme Court is an existential threat to the rule of law." – Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson

If there was to be a second civil war, the democrats don't have a Lincoln to offer. The best the DNC got is...nobody

I think a thing that people intrinsically know about multimedia IP though it’s not said is if it ends up in a book it’s because there were no plans to put it on-screen. In the days when Star Wars really only had one filmmaker behind it, that’s what was behind a lot of publishing…

I don’t know if the world needs Spaceballs 2 and I know that’s kind of the joke about it but I’m just happy that Mel Brooks is still making goofs instead of being a wretched old shithead like so many famous old people who gave up on goofs

We need a new generation of leaders who are the voices of democracy, freedom, social justice, & the rule of law.  A new generation that gives meaning to the “we” in “we the people.” Instead of fretting over Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party should embrace him as the future.

We were so fortunate to have such a good and decent man as our president.

Phang: Immediately after being appointed… Habba said, quote: “We could turn New Jersey red, and I think New Jersey is absolutely close to getting there. So hopefully, while I’m there, I can help that cause.” Doesn’t sound like somebody who is trying to be, I don’t know, a fair arbiter of the law—

Zohran Mamdani’s win has inspired over 3400 young people to raise their hands to run for office just since Tuesday. It’s now @runforsomething.net’s biggest candidate recruitment moment since the election. A new generation of leaders is here.

I didn’t have “arguing if the Constitution is constitutional” on my 2025 bingo card. Did you?

This country is thoroughly screwed for at least a generation. People haven't taken stock of how much damage has already been done. 2026 and 2028 won't magically fix this. It's going to be a long walk.

Finally a corporation is reacting to what’s happening here. Don’t be surprised that it’s not a car company or a shampoo brand. They’re all still pretending that life is normal. It’s a bookstore. Barnes and Noble fills their store display windows with Orwell’s 1984 and Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale.

It’s not just that Zohran Mamdani beat Andrew Cuomo. It’s that he and the voters beat an entire transnational criminal syndicate of power brokers who have had a stranglehold on NYC politics for a very long time. And they’ll be coming after him hard. He’ll need a lot of support—and protection.

They met on a Saturday night at Gracie Mansion. Beforehand, Mamdani told his father, "Baba, please just humor his questions." 🤣

A reminder that the @nytimes.com told New Yorkers to not rank Mamdani at all, & instead endorsed former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson. Tilson sits at a whopping .8%. Corporate media trust is dead. They killed themselves by failing to fulfill their promise of holding the powerful accountable.

Beloit, WI revitalized its waterfront and chose this way to celebrate it: by bringing to life Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

Mamdani knocking off Cuomo is the headline that will get me through another day or two of hideous venality and miscalculation in American governance at home and abroad. We can have nice things. It's still possible.
