I’m reminded of @daraobriain.bsky.social about the ‘fear’ of crime

Feelings do not match the actual scientific data. It ‘feels’ more unsafe because useful idiots like Lowe keep telling the gullible it is.

Reform coming third seems to be bigger news than the bigger shock of Labour taking a seat from the SNP which shows they are on course for regaining power in Scotland.
comment in response to post
Labour pulled off a major shock by winning this seat but you wouldn’t know it. Looking at the media it’s Reform surge Reform surge Reform surge oh and Labour won the seat

They also think just because they support Trump nothing bad will happen to THEM. The naivety is almost touching

15% of the U.K. population was born outside the U.K. So by any definition that’s a minority
comment in response to post
What about pointing out abuse done by everyone? Why highlight a minority? You don’t actually care about the victims you see them than only as a tool to exploit for your own ends.
comment in response to post
I’m pointing out facts. Vast majority of grooming gangs are white male. Vast majority of pedophiles are white male. By trying to turn it into a race issue you are disrespecting the victims by trying to exploit their suffering.

Your next sentence ‘Starmer would not have made a point of it otherwise’ Why would Starmer make a point of a city not in the U.K?
comment in response to post
This is electoral suicide. Right wing supporters as seen in Europe don’t vote for cheap copies. Shifting the window to the right is the same mistake the Tories made and leaves them very vulnerable to losing votes from their liberal base to Lib Dem’s and Greens.

Vast majority of assaults against women are done by the native population not foreigners

‘In my city it is rife, the lack of integration is everywhere’ That’s sounds to me like you think there is an integration problem.
comment in response to post
I don’t particularly care what Starmer thinks I’m asking what you think lack of integration means as you said there’s an integration problem in the U.K.
comment in response to post
Does that mean we will get Braverman being made to look stupid for a week at LBC ?

Lucky boy

Then define how you see lack of integration because you are not seeing how these people live day to day? Many would be going to work. Speaking English at work. Meeting up with friends and settling into U.K. way of life.
comment in response to post
Again define lack of integration. Celebration of your own culture and speaking your own language in public doesn’t show a lack of integration.
comment in response to post
I know from experience for the bigots no form of integration is enough because they quite simply hate immigrants. Whatever they do they can’t win and they use the word integration to justify their bigotry

I’ve been told by quite a few people on other social media that she wasn’t. Do you agree with them?
comment in response to post
Well let’s take my OH as an example. She worked. Paid taxes. Became a U.K. citizen. Fluent in English. She celebrated UK holidays and traditions. She also celebrated Russian holidays and traditions. Spoke only Russian to her friends and families and cooked Russian food. Was she integrated?

Define integration

He will not win a 2nd term if he keeps pandering to Farage. He needs to call him out not suck up to him.

So right now, I cannot see any situation where I would subject my family to the idea of returning to the UK, and for myself, I am very happy I am out of it. I wish it were different,t but I feel it is inevitable that the UK will descend into nativism and authoritarianism
comment in response to post
I look with horror at what has happened in the UK as Labour and Tories all appease and pander to the far right. Extremist language and policies are now considered the norm. I cannot imagine the hell my wife would be going through if we were still there hearing that she's a burden and a threat
comment in response to post
I honestly thought it could not get worse, but it seems I was wrong. We now have vermin, invasion, scum. We have people advocating for killing people in boats. We have people saying foreigners (even if they are now UK citizens) should not be allowed access to benefits, and that they are all a threat

When we left in 2019, I had decided that this was no longer my country. Bigotry, racism and intolerance all go against what I consider basic British values, but I held out hope that things would improve some time in the future and some day I could return
comment in response to post
My wife felt blamed, picked on and insecure in her own home because she spoke a foreign language in public and had an accent despite being at a native level English. She worked hard, filled a massive skills gap, and yet she felt she was being blamed for all the countries woes

Fast forward six months, and I am back to No, I absolutely would not. Putting aside the better quality of life, wages, etc., part of the reason we left was the nativism and racism coming through into British politics, which impacted my wif,e who moved and settled down the UK in 2005
