Thanks to @meadea.bsky.social for highlighting the recent episode of SBS Insight, which perpetuated the myth that people with #mecfs can recover if they want it badly enough. The episode betrayed the thousands who want to recover but haven’t, despite their efforts. We deserved better from SBS.

Three months have passed since the NACC promised an “impartial & fair investigation” into Robodebt. Nothing has been heard since. @FahyMichelle & @LizMinter #auspol michaelwest.com.au/deafening-si...

Nothing demonstrates the decline in public virtue more than the contrast between David McBride, who exposed Australian war crimes, who is behind bars, and Ben Roberts-Smith, who committed the war crimes, who is not

Still mindblowing to wake up every day knowing that the US elected a corrupt, incompetent, insecure internet troll not once, but twice to be their President. #USpol #AusPol

Jamal Khashoogi was writing a story for the Washington Post exposing MBS and Saudi Arabia’s corruption. MBS had Kashoogi brutally murdered and dismembered. Today, the owner of the Washington Post, Jeff Bezos, was in Saudi Arabia begging MBS for business. So reprehensible.

Investing in communities instead of prisons and police can look like this: a place for young people to go at night where they can play a game of UNO or basketball and grab a feed. This country spends billions on child prisons and little on programs like this that actually work.

If you really want to be tough on crime, tax billionaires out of existence and use that money for free healthcare, education and housing.

Albanese just endlessly shuffling Plibersek from portfolio she wanted (education) to ones where she has to use her progressive cred to protect his left flank while getting little done (environment, social services).

A genocide is occurring in Gaza. Many Australians are disturbed by the images. And what does the Albanese govt do with its expanded majority but sack from cabinet the one minister prepared to talk back to Israel, at behest of Marles - a factional hack and puppet of the US security establishment.

Sorry, Albanese. The electorate put Greens in the Senate for a reason, & it wasn’t just to rubber stamp your agenda. They don’t need to just “get out of the way”. #ABC730 #AusPol

We should never forget only so it doesn't happen again #auspol "His politics was cruel and brutish and he fought against inclusion, tolerance and generosity with fervour. He spent the last week of the election campaign elevating a culture war started by self-confessed neo-Nazis"

I call this blanket Frosty Starbright. I used Attic24’s Starbright pattern and her Springfrost yarn pack. Love how it turned out. My new lap blanket for cold nights in front of the telly! #crochet #crochetsky #craft 🧶

Australia faces an integrity crisis. Without immediate reform, public trust in government will continue to erode. Integrity experts incl former judges, ombudsmen, and leading academics have signed an open letter calling on the new Parliament to address weaknesses in political integrity. #auspol

Quick refresher on the Angus Taylor forged document scandal. “They then sent it to the senior staff member who wrote – in what must have sent a chill down Angus Taylor’s back of his neck – ‘It looks a little messier than we hoped.’ “I don’t know what was going through Angus Taylor’s head.”

Wanna see something cool? At the Grammy's in 1976, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme explained what jazz is. The result? The crowd losing its mind. 🔥

My take on last night’s extraordinary result www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

I’m relieved Labor won, even more relieved the Coalition didn’t, but Albanese uttering the words “No One Left Behind” was infuriating. The ALP has left plenty of people behind: - Jobseeker & NDIS recipients - Poor people through increased inequality - First home buyers - People in Gaza #AusPol

James McGrath has been intolerable tonight. Annabel Crabb’s pursed lips as she bites down on her tongue while he waffles on about the Brisbane Council policy approach being the path forward for the Coalition. 🙄 #AusVotes #AusPol

Instead of obsessing about Climate 200's crowdfunding to support candidates committed to saving our planet, maybe the media could focus more on Atlas Network's funding of individuals and organisations to promote climate denialism and undermine democracy to benefit the (very) privileged few?

Booing a Welcome to Country at a Anzac Day dawn service is just vile and it also completely forgets that so many of our people served. Here’s the service of one Aboriginal soldier, my Dad.

This is what a rigged economy looks like: In the 1970s, CEOs made 27 times more than the average worker. In the 1980s, CEOs made 48 times more than the average worker. This decade, CEOs are making 354 times more than the average worker. That has got to change.

Independent candidate Alex Dyson is leading senior Liberal incumbent Dan Tehan in the Victorian seat of Wannon A new poll from YouGov – which looked at 12 regional seats between 17-24 April (6% MoE) – shows Dyson with 57% of the two-candidate-preferred vote to Tehan’s 43%

The morons who disgraced themselves at the dawn service do not represent the Anzac Spirit. Their actions were disrespectful and ugly. Sadly, attacks on Welcome to Country ceremonies have been inflamed by Peter Dutton and One Nation. Mr Dutton really should take this moment to reflect and think.

You have to read this article. "The forces we are up against have made peace with mass death. They are treasonous to this world and its human and non-human inhabitants." By @naomiaklein.bsky.social and @astra.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

A labour of love. A set of Mondrian-inspired crochet coasters for a Dutch friend who recently renovated her apartment. Her decor is influenced by Mondrian’s art, so I wanted to make these to match. This was my own pattern, and made using Scheepjes Catona 4ply cotton yarn. 🧶

As I spend this weekend finalising an Information Commissioner submission to get public access to the full report of Ms Lynelle Briggs AO on Mr Pezzullo, I’m stunned to read that Mr Dutton thinks Pezzullo should be re-engaged in a public service national security role🤦‍♂️. #auspol

When Andrew Tate was charged with rape and human trafficking, Trump intervened to fly him back to the US. When a working-class father of a disabled 5-year-old child was wrongfully deported and charged with NO crime, Trump refuses to lift a finger.

I was recently in Perth, Australia, to see Alem Matthees, the patient who liberated the PACE data through a freedom-of-information request. Reanalyses showed the trial had null or negligable results. Here's an account of my visits two weeks ago with Alem: virology.ws/2025/04/14/t...
