I’m afraid Musky has made it a “cool kid” thing among creeps. Blocking.

Sure. But if you’re on an Act Blue list, how likely is it that you find him motivating, especially when someone forgot to sort the list by time zone?

Not in many fields. One example: He got the DOJ actually enforcing antitrust laws for the first time in DECADES. I’m pretty tired of prople shitting on Biden, who left us with a great economy and as many rights as he could given the Sup Ct.

One of my most discouraging moments of the Harris campaign was when, in late October, I got an 11 pm text from Carville asking for money. There are literally thousands of people who would be more likely to prompt me to give. Wow, I hate him.

They read the graphic descriptions and were jealous, I’m afraid.

Thanks for giving me something to think about!

It isn’t consistently summery yet here in Minnesota but I’m seeing some. I had a ton last summer. I think it’s because I’ve let my yard go wild and so have almost all my neighbors for quite a way. (Many have planted native.) I wonder how much contiguous land they need to do well.

I *thought* you’d be impressed! 🤣 Hey, I just spent the weekend in your lovely state!

Back in NY, I had a classmate named Bob Weyer. No idea whether he eventually married someone named Barbara or took up fencing.

Why would anyone buy a purebred cat or dog when delightful animals are being killed every day in the US and elsewhere for lack of homes?

Konijntje! Cute!

I’ll have to test that.

Thank you for sharing this excellent piece of writing.

I see Tom Robbins on several lists here. Am fascinated by how meaningful he was for me at age 18, but how completely unreadable I find him now. Strongly suspect Vonnegut and Marge Piercy would be painful now, too.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

“For better, for worse, in sickness and in stench…” Hope you’re feeling ok.

Yes! When I see “favourite,” I think, “whew, not my compatriot.”

Wishing you an easy time and fast healing, Bella. However you smell, I’m sure they’ve smelled worse!

I quit Amazon many years ago and quit X last year. I quit Duolingo last week for this exact reason. I’m thrilled to see how many people have been joining me in refusing to pay those who insist on enshittifying our society.

Did he not know that being in Congress is very time- consuming and that he is expected to show up for votes he doesn’t find meaningful? If he’s not up to it (and it sure seems like he isn’t), why not resign? I wouldn’t be a competent Senator and that’s why I haven’t tried to be one.

Or NY.

As a kid, I (US kid) likely read more books printed in the UK than US. Got marked down in school for writing “grey” instead of “gray.” Sad to see people not taking a moment to look at the source of what they’re reading.

The simple answer (though the mechanics of it are far from simple): Unionize! I’m private sector, too, though I worked for the state (left for more $). Society improves when we lift everyone up, not when we drag others down.

Done.

1) Many public sector jobs are union (in MN, almost all), so is it appropriate to compare to non-union jobs? 2) Many public sector jobs don’t exist in the private sector. So it’s hard to compare that way, too.

Man, I hate Carville with a deep passion I usually reserve for MAGAs and Netanyahu.

The state was SD. Not very populated and not especially known for a collection of intellectual heavyweights.

Away went my 1200-day streak and my renewal. I don’t want more AI.

Funny. I don’t think I used the word “consensus.”

Ok, now would you explain what the Snopes article and the items you posted disagree on? I don’t see anything, though the Snopes article is more detailed.

Wow. I’m disappointed to hear this from someone I thought was a fan of looking things up. www.snopes.com/fact-check/b...

Thank you. I was mad at him for years bc of his messup on the Senate Judiciary Committee that likely gave us Clarence Thomas. But he really grew as a person and was an excellent President.

I liked it when it came out but that may be related to being 30-plus years younger. Will have to find it at the library.

Iowa in a nutshell, I’m afraid.
