I’m sorry. It’s heartbreaking.

Yeah, gotta love how everyone thinks these global capitalist sports corporations are NOT going to capitulate to the fascists and that they won’t continue to host major events here….

Ask the people who got abducted and detained if they got to choose their path

Expect him to get a pardon or a cabinet position. That’s who Republicans are.

ALL of them. Political and legal mechanisms are not suitable for this task either. The people had better get this figured out. Nobody’s coming to save us.

Republicans have shown us exactly who they are for over ten years now. They aren’t going to suddenly wake up and not be fascists intent on destroying us.

Uh, pretty sure it’s been dangerous for everyone being abducted and fearing being abducted for some time now

No we didn’t. The US is still a fascist authoritarian dictatorship at this moment and protests don’t scare Republican members of Congress. The people still haven’t figured out what is necessary in this moment. Republican elected officials need to have their offices - all of them - surrounded daily.

They’ve had ten years to ask that question and they still haven’t caught on. Either that or they like what they see. I can’t understand how anyone could think that Republican voters or elected officials are going to magically wake up and not be ignorant bigots with no integrity and no ethics.

None of them will print the word. PBS did. Most other American media refuses to print the word “millions.” They are all complicit.

No Reuters. It was millions. And you are complicit.

PBS has the guts to print the word!?!

It isn’t just this publication. No mainstream media will report the numbers. All compromised, cowardly newsrooms owned by the same obscenely wealthy fascist interests that brought us this regime.

When you know how ignorant the average American is about their own politics, their country’s history, the present, and the wider world, it really isn’t that surprising. Republican Americans are deeply ignorant. They don’t even know what fascism is, let alone recognize that they voted for it.

Mostly people who call themselves “leftists” are faaaaaar more concerned with differentiating themselves from liberals than they are with fighting fascism

Unfortunately that includes all the self-righteous babies who believed they “sent a message” by staying home or voting for Jill fucking Stein

NPR’s complicity is sickening

They are absolutely pathetic. Such cowardice. I have no faith in NPR, it’s all both-sides-ing and cowardice. There really aren’t any reporters with chops, they don’t ask tough questions, and they refuse to state the truth in their headlines. I’m done. Was a faithful listener for decades. No more.

And yet their leadership is still too dumb to realize they’re getting defunded anyway…
comment in response to

They were assassinated by Republican terrorists, NPR. And you are far too cowardly to state that fact. They’re defunding you anyway. And you’re still behaving with the utmost cowardice, unable to print the words “fascism” or “lie” as democracy dies before our eyes. Shame on you.
comment in response to

How many people, NPR? Is your headline writer also an employee of the Republican Party?
comment in response to

Our media won’t say so either
comment in response to

Don’t expect NPR to publish that number. They can’t even print the words “fascist” or “lie.”

And yes I understand the difference between the troops and the “leadership.” We have just seen too much evidence that all the decent people in top brass were purged and only loyalists remain.

I want to believe that. But if they were going to defend us from enemies foreign and domestic, wouldn’t they have done that already? They do nothing but comply in the face of an ongoing illegal coup. It’s shameful. South Koreans ended their dictatorship in one fucking day.
comment in response to

They don’t have to either. If our media wasn’t owned by the same obscenely wealthy fascists as our government, they really wouldn’t have to. They could just state facts. The media we have can’t even print the words “fascism” or “lies.”

We don’t have to pretend that.

my soul left my body watching the fox news feed glitching out as the tanks roll past the president’s observation stand and the announcer’s voice echoes across the mostly empty streets, “special thanks to our sponsor, palantir”

It’s too bad they don’t have leadership interested in protecting the US Constitution; if they did this illegal coup would have been put down by now. If our military was prepared to defend us from enemies foreign and domestic they would have done it by now. We can only assume they aren’t interested

They just don’t get it. After hearing Asma Khaled report on HARRIS speaking in “word salad” last fall I had really had enough. They bend over backwards with the both-sidesing and the pandering. It’s shameful. There is little real journalism going on in ANY US mainstream media, including NPR.
comment in response to

I recall an Asma Khaled piece in October about HARRIS speaking in “word salad.” It was the most upside down, preposterous reporting I had ever heard from them. And the sad part is that they’re still better than the entirety of the US mainstream media.

Yes. They have crossed into complicity, which never pays, they’ll be defunded anyway. But they didn’t seem to catch on.
