My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"? Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...

Stumpery done.

We're pleased to announce that @tobyhadoke.bsky.social's long-awaited history of the The Quatermass Experiment will be published in May in trade paperback, along with a limited edition hardback with special cover artwork by @roberthack.bsky.social. Order now from tenacrefilms.bigcartel.com

It's Stumpery Build Day today. This log will be in prime position. I am likely, as is always, to put in more plants than needed.

The new graphic novel adaptation of A Wizard of Earthsea, adapted and illustrated by Fred Fordham, is on shelves today ✨

The lack of secure #cycle parking in #Cardiff is a big barrier to encouraging people to get around by bike. Cardiff Council are consulting on their new Secure Cycle Parking Proposals. Make sure you have your say! www.cardiff.gov.uk/ENG/Your-Cou...

A great selection of Welsh clothing manufacturers here for anyone wanting to ditch fast fashion this Christmas: "let’s be proud that we still have Welsh manufacturing and design excellence standing tall among the best brands out there. And where we can, let’s show them our support this Christmas."

I leant upon a coppice gate When Frost was spectre-gray, And Winter’s dregs made desolate The weakening eye of day. The tangled bine-stems scored the sky Like strings of broken lyres, And all mankind that haunted nigh Had sought their household fires.

Reminder that Storyville Books in Pontypridd has suffered a great deal of damage this weekend - help this indie bookshop by ordering books using the link below if you can please

Penblwydd Hapus Doctor Who. 61 today. Never cruel or cowardly. Never give up, never give in.

No pressure of course, but as soon as Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock arrives, that's me starrily happy for some time. We've already got the wonderful @chrislintott.bsky.social thankfully. 🔭

Swedish Chef/Rapper’s Delight…

I would like to speak up today for the trans community. You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1

So besides the paper and cotton, I made this from scratch. My very first. Loved the bookbinding workshop this morning.

Indigo leaf colours on silk, colours from this season. Using the leaf fresh is an easy process, it bypasses the need for a vat and creates lighter blues and a base for over-dyeing.

RIP Jane Godley. You were the legend that people didn't know they needed until they did.

By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes #origami

Well things are progressing well. Still very early stages. Head whirls with all the things to remember but I've parked all the negative thoughts and enjoy it. Loving pottery.

Today is my first day of pottery since 1986. Hope my hands hold out. Fingers crossed. Capability being before rather than after.

This is a good piece by Fintan O’Toole on how the “old gods” of Ireland were (and continue to be) constantly repurposed by whoever wrote about them, largely because we know nothing about them: www.nybooks.com/articles/201...

You are never alone in your experience of suffering. This story resonates deeply for me. I hope it does for others reading it.
