Curious about everything, often to my own detriment. Mechanical engineer by trade and training, mostly in heavy duty truck drivetrain and suspension. Intermittent community volunteer, coming off 6 years on a non-profit board.

C.S. Lewis talks about the difficulty of preventing the memory of a deceased person turning into a caricature. A Grief Observed, around page 9. This is that warning write horribly large. www.samizdat.qc.ca/arts/lit/PDF...

This is why I buy most everything you write. Also, is there a word for when the screwball tragedy / farce comedy suddenly becomes reality? Probably something German…

Cool! I’ll have to see if my sis is in there. That’s about a block from her house

Might as well enjoy the money while it's still worth something.

It may take a couple of hours for my fanboy squeal to reach you in California, but be assured it’s coming

Looks like the one under 465 approaching from the north.
In other news, I've been working in Plainfield for 8 years and just discovered they have a nice system of trails. (DOHHH!) Time to put the rack back on the car and get in some lunch rides

My Republican senators are going to be sending me Xmas hate mail cards based on the amount I’m calling them.

I live in Indy, inside a deep red state. There are plenty of places for the MAGA crowd to drink in this town. Deliberately going into an establishment that is known to be rainbow friendly just to harass people for shits and grins is thinking you have the privilege to violate safe spaces. Fuck 'em.

I've got most of them ripped to my personal media server for situations like this. I bought the DVD collections first if the copyright hounds are baying.

Irritating in several senses, but especially since satellite internet is fundamentally limited on bandwidth. Wired broadband is always going to be superior when available.

As opposed the rapid unscheduled government disassembly they are doing now?!? If you had voted against it they would own it. As it is you are now complacent with Elon's rampage, and threw your House colleagues under the bus in the bargain. Resign! You don't have the faculties or spine for the job.

Sad this is happening. Disgusted with my government, even though I voted against all this. I would do the same in your situation.

He is the patriarch / cult leader for a whole lot of people who want someone of the same skin color to protect them from everything they fear. Its completely an emotional attachment. Any argument you make attacks their identify, so the will ignore it or rationalize it away.

I thought you were trying a new plot out with the first post. I was going to suggest it was too ridiculous to be worth it. Bloody ‘ell

Magic would be fun, but I'd prefer to be a rigger. Then again, I'm a mechanical engineer.

Everytime I see one of these bunker stories I remember Cory Doctorow's Masque of the Red Death and laugh and laugh. As typically happens with the plutocrat, they forget they are part of the community that enabled their wealth.

Heartbreaking, but I think you are correct. The only way to salvage this would be an immediate impeachment and imprisonment of the whole Trump administration. That's not going to happen, so here we are.

“Free markets” = unregulated markets that always end up as monopolies or cartels. Freedom to exploit everyone else.
“Personal liberty” - freedom for bigots and misogynists to abuse everyone else
