When I was about 12 my mate Marty and I used to draw a comic strip where the Rhomboids - alien invaders from outer space - were one of the main villains. I've had a go at recreating one here

The Great Northern centre in Manchester was a bit like this around 20 years ago, to the point where they had pop-up art exhibitions in some of the empty units. But it seems to be thriving now (as far as I can tell from Google maps)

Well that was depressing. But if, as Ava said, McSweeney is the puppetmaster and would still be there if Starmer went, I don't understand what his powerbase is. Surely not popular with the membership, nor with the MPs now that they're polling so badly?
