I agree with you on that. My issue is that the ACA is free market healthcare reform that works rather like a Rube Goldberg machine. For me, the issues around concealing income to qualify for a subsidy is specious and a moot point when the entire free market health system is FUBAR.

My point is that it’s not a social welfare program like a the UK system or the VA. You could potentially get the same effect as a subsidy through guaranteed issue and price controls, but insurance companies would hate that.

A subsidy to some, a market correction to others. The individual insurance market is highly concentrated so that the price is way over what it would be in a competitive market. The “subsidy” corrects for the market failure that does not provide sufficient affordable coverage that doesn’t suck.

This is bizarre. Not everything has a gender. Even then, cultures differ on what traits would be associated with what gender. Compassion in Tibetan Buddhism is manifested as the male bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Whereas in China it is Kwan Yin, the female version.
