I wish there were a way to scientifically document this observation, but young people will have to take my word for it: In the past, it was not normal to be in a group of people in June and constantly hear hard, wet, hacking coughing.

Here’s why I post so much about Covid: after your 3rd infection the risk of developing Long Covid is 37% and keeps increasing each round, this is published science. So I’d rather nag at people going to cons to mask now, than say I told you so when you are too disabled to travel to any in the future.

If 4.9 million kids with asthma is a national health priority, what does it mean when 5.8 million have Long Covid? Why is the #1 chronic condition in children being ignored?

The Times: 'Simple blood test could provide first reliable diagnosis for ME' 'Discovery of signature patterns of molecules in the blood of ME patients may signify a turning point in diagnosis, typically made by ruling out other illnesses' www.thetimes.com/uk/healthcar...

New piece on why it’s unhelpful to characterise COVID debate as ‘lockdowns are bad’ vs ‘lockdowns are good’ when it was really about people who claimed that COVID was 100x less fatal than it was + optimal to have a massive epidemic immediately before vaccine… vs those who sense checked these claims.

They found "significant productivity loss caused by missed workdays due to long #COVID, providing an economic justification for policymakers & employers to provide support systems for #longCOVID patients to return to work" journals.plos.org/plosone/arti... Image from Science for ME update #PASC

I want to discuss nuance. Because while we have masked kidnappers running rampant across the country and this is obviously fucked up and unacceptable; A lot of the pushback I'm hearing is "nobody should cover their face." Uhm. No. Religion, Cold Weather, and Germs still exist.

Mahmoud Khalil is free.

This hasn’t been discussed either, so many deaths and ongoing from Covid and relevant to the assisted dying bill because we still haven’t discussed this and deaths are ongoing. www.theguardian.com/world/2021/f...

I don’t know if anyone has noticed but there are two types of minimisers: those who think vaccines are enough and rarely get vaccinated and those who think vaccines caused the problem. Neither are correct.

I'm old enough to remember when summers weren't filled with smoke-filled skies & razor blade throats

If you’re taking Covid precautions and got sick, please don’t feel guilty You made the effort. That’s more than most are doing. It’s harder to protect yourself when everyone else is practicing “you do you” eugenics. Masking means transmission stopped with you. You protected others. That’s a win.

"The Times article reinforced a popular belief that disability is a fate worse than death. Disable author Imani Barbarin sums it up in the title of her forthcoming book: If I Were You, I’d Kill Myself" Excellent rebuttal of the New York Times Magazine MAiD piece which followed a woman to her death

"Feel free to join us if your need for connection outweighs your low risk tolerance" is an ableist thing to say to someone For people with long Covid or trying to prevent illness, it sounds like: "You don’t belong here unless you’re willing to risk your health"

Sen. Tammy Duckworth just said on Colbert, "We should all live long enough to develop a disability," & the audience laughed uncomfortably. I can tell you what they were thinking. It was "Not me. That would never happen to me." & the underlying, unacknowlged premise was "b/c I'm better than that."

A man with chronic back pain & mental illness died via MAiD (medical assistance in dying) while on a day pass from a psychiatric facility. This is why disability advocates are speaking out. If you’re not competent to be released from a psych hold, how can you consent to death?

Love that 95% of images & gifs in my timeline include Alt text. I must be following the best, most caring, inclusive folks who truly get what it means to be in solidarity, ready & willing to resist authoritarianism, fascism & the breakdown of society thru community care💖 I want y’all in my IRL hood!

"Now number one chronic illness in children" 🤒😢 I wonder if there were tools to prevent this kind of worldwide tragedy? 🤔😷

Why do we even need vaccines, people don’t even get some of those diseases any more.

Covid is a social justice issue. Respirators cost money. HEPA filters cost money. Tests cost money. Vaccines cost money. Paid time off is rare. Affordable child care is non existent Covid disproportionately impacts those who are already the most marginalized Mask up & protect your community

Reasons to wear a mask at your "outdoor activities" today: 1. Surveillance state!! Protect your identity. 2. Don't accidentally spread any kind of anything to your comrades! 3. Viral spread is a tool of the oppressor (e.g., small pox blankets) 4. COVID is spiking again w horrible symptoms!

Do you know how many people aren’t protesting today because you’ve disabled or killed them with covid? Real uncomfortable question, I know. What would you do if you knew your personal number (of people you’ve disabled or worse)? Would it matter?

“If ICE is going to wear a mask in their uniform, then I can.” In August, Nassau County lawmakers passed a bill banning the public from wearing masks. Protesters showed up today masked anyway. We asked them why.

Very upsetting to see her not mask around vulnerable kids in a hospital. Acute Covid can be fatal for them & long Covid is now the leading chronic health condition in U.S. kids. Not to mention the Measles outbreaks Imagine how impactful it would be with her reach if she wore a respirator?

Genuinely, we may be headed toward - let’s say a lot of collective action. Giving your allies covid or becoming disabled by long covid is about the worst own-goal you can imagine. Please mask today.

This isn't the first area to surge with Nimbus. It's already a pattern. Ruh-Roh!

For me the worst part was seeing the world catch/develop what I'd suffered from 8 years prior, and knowing what that means for humanity within the next decades to come. It isn't pretty & it's already coming to pass. Heart attacks and strokes, but most insidious: brain fog. I tried to warn ppl 😔

This was a hate crime in a series of hate crimes Jonathan and his husband Tristan dealt with. Neighbors said he was behaving "erratically" but who wouldn't react with such extreme emotion in this situation? He was murdered on the first day of Pride. Indigenous people are not numbers. Say his name.

Johnathan Joss died a hero. He was murdered for being gay, he went out protecting his trans husband from being executed. They burned down their home and killed their pets and then they murdered Joss while trying to murder his husband. The New York times can barely muster "fatally shot." I hate this.

Another Thursday, over 8 months without our @tinu.bsky.social and this isn't done for her family! Please share this on all platforms, we need eyes on this to get it done. If Tinu and her work meant anything to you, please share! If you can't help, please share! 💖 www.gofundme.com/f/honoring-t...

Mask up NOW “A new COVID variant, known as NB.1.8.1, has made landfall in the United States, and it's more transmissible than other variants.” www.huffpost.com/entry/the-mo...

I'm going to tell you something the government won't (and I can't believe I'm the one saying this): coronavirus damages the placenta. Women who are infected experience double the baseline rate of stillbirths.

Good human! www.thepinknews.com/2025/05/28/s...

Reminder: Murderbot is an it, not a him. It is very clear on this point multiple times through the books and the show is following that

Ah. Good. Zero mention of how apathy on the right and left STOKED BY THE MEDIA made for this moment, lots of pretending that COVID is a bygone problem…I wonder how on earth these conspiracy theorists got a foothold and a platform? 🤔 www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

This research letter highlights how deaths in the US were higher in 2023 than they were pre-pandemic. Covid and its longterm health impacts are not over. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

www.cbsnews.com/video/millio... Populism normalised this. It normalised millions of children being unprotected for airborne transmission of a virus that causes organ damage and this is ongoing. This is not ok and it’s not normal for governments to wash their hands of responsibility.

UnitedHealth secretly pressured nurses to change patients' records to include DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) without their consent, so those patients would die instead of being saved with medical interventions that could cost UnitedHealth money. This is murder. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Did you know that we as trans people don't have to redo Gender Wars shit? The dudes rock, the dolls rock, the theys rock. The only important distinction right now is are you cool or are you a cop.

Boycotting large chains is a privilege. Protesting is a privilege. Moving States or countries is a privilege. Prepping is a privilege. Growing your own food is a privilege. Stockpiling meds is a privilege. Far too many of the “solutions” to fascism are inaccessible to many disabled people.
