We wrote about the steps that must be taken to protect whistleblowers should someone like Hegseth be confirmed back in December, and it still rings very true today.... thehill.com/opinion/whit...

Psst...the public needs to know what DOGE is doing. Know something but too scared to come forward - or want to talk to a lawyer first? Or maybe you'd like to give a piece of info to match other concerns by other workers. The Psst Safe will keep you safe & help the public know. psst.org/safe

As hearing ends, Wynn-Williams says it “may be the last time I’m allowed to speak” due to recent gag order. She has a lot of Qs for Zuck but, he's "proven time & time again that you cannot believe his answers... He's lied to members of Congress, he's lied to employees, and he’s lied to Americans."

She says Zuck may have reinvented himself as a big freedom of speech advocate, but wonders, "if he is such a fan of freedom of speech, why is he trying to silence me?"

Wynn-Williams says she tried to convince a business leader at the company to stop emotionally targeting teens. His response was: "We've got the most valuable segment of the population. Advertisers really want to reach 13-17 year-olds. We have them. We should be trumpeting it from the rooftops."

She also says Meta is threatening to hold her accountable for $50k for every disparaging comment she makes about them—even if it’s true.

Wynn-Williams said she has had some "very… aggressive threats from this company" and that "the last four weeks has been very difficult."

Wynn-Williams: "Meta is very quick to say, 'don’t do anything that can hurt us because you’ll let China win.'... And the whole time, the company that has done the most to help China gain a technological advantage is Meta."

W-W describes tech executives w/screen bans in their homes, whose own children aren’t allowed to use FB or Instagram. “These executives—they know. They know the harm this product does. They don’t allow their own teenagers to use the products that Meta develops. The hypocrisy is at every level.”

W-W says Meta let advertisers know when 13-17 y-os were feeling depressed saying, this is a good time to try to serve them an ad. "If a 13-year-old girl would delete a selfie that was considered a good time to try to sell her a beauty product. This was taken as a signal and shared with advertisers."

Wynn-Williams: "The greatest trick Mark Zuckerberg ever pulled was wrapping the American flag around himself, calling himself a patriot, and saying he didn’t offer services in China while he spent the past decade building an $18 billion business there."

Wynn-Williams says Facebook regularly briefed members of the Chinese Communist Party, over a period of YEARS, and exchanged information with them—providing briefings on cutting edge technology like facial recognition.

Wynn-Williams: Facebook agreed to grant the Chinese government access to Chinese user data—which means that American user data was also compromised. Sen. Hawley: “This is exactly contrary to what Facebook has reported for years, all for profits in China.”

And now, more than a year after *that,* the New Yorker’s blockbuster piece is out. In addition to telling part of Davidson's story, it talks possible "fake brides," and all other manners of sketchy corporate behavior. You can read that story here. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

As they went live with their first-person account, journalists finally started paying attention. 8 years after Davidson, Elley and LaFera first tried to go public, the NY Post published a piece on their allegations. nypost.com/2023/07/19/t... Then Forbes did, too. Inc. followed suit soon after.

Amber started working with them on an essay about everything the three women had witnessed—the alleged fraud, the corruption, the toxic environment surrounding it all. We ultimately published that essay here: psst.org/blog/behind-...
