While religion, on the other hand, is a fundamentally discriminatory force. Hell, the Bible and Jesus specifically admit it several times.

Yes, science (same as anything) can be weaponised for evil. But beyond that, science is a fundamentally progressive and humanist endeavour. Every civil or social right marginalised groups enjoy nowadays has come backed by science saying "yep, they're normal human beings with entirely natural traits"

A big difference would be that while science can make mistakes, in the end, 1. tends to eventually self-correct as it is in-built in the system and 2. it's based, in as much as possible, on known *fact*. One thing is making a mistake in good faith and another, making it cos magic sky dude told you.

It'd be no merit of the books but of human perseverance and ability to cope.

Pretty sure that if you had an institution systematically depriving people from all their rights, attempting to destroy their humanity and then you threw frigging Harry Potter books into their lot, by the end of the week, they would be divided in the four houses and doing better for it.

Uhhhhh.. do you realise that they were enslaved by very Christian people, who believed that their very Christian duty was to elevate those poor sub-human creatures via slavery? Who forcefully indoctrinated them with the same dogma that rendered slaves, using a "holy" book which is okay with slavery?

A truly, truly righteous person who happens to be religious is fated to abandon religion as the number of tenets, beliefs, instructions and implications that stand against that righteousness and which they will have to ignore, justify, interpret acrobatically, or pretend that doesn't exist is absurd

What values are those? Don't you understand that at its core, Christianism is a patriarchal, monarchical, nationalist, sexist, exclusionist (and more) institution that teaches people to support those views with lies? Even the most truly righteous Christian has many warped values as result of that.

You either decline to eat this tasty fruit I left right next to you every day for the rest of your life, or I will curse you and every single other human being with lifelong pain, misery and suffering, plus an eternity of unimaginable agony. Oh and don't forget to thank me every day for being Good.

Huh? Thing is that Republicans didn't lie to them. They loudly and proudly declared what they would do. And the voters? they LOVED that messaging. Every little inner voice of "won't that impact your friend/relative ?" was quickly silenced by the delightful promise of people they despise suffering.

Pretty sure that if someone had told her that mothers were being deported before it happened to her friend, she'd have said something on the lines of "so what? Murica is for Muricans!"

Dude literally and earnestly talking like a 2-cent satirical caricature of a terminally ineffectual politician.

Why Dems' Efforts at Reestablishing Amicable Relationships With Long-Time Nemesis Canada is Nothing More Than A Politically-Motivated Attempt At Dismantling President Trump's Legacy. /Yes, you should be angry./

No, no, that would be too firm of a statement for these so called centrists. You'd have to either milquetoastely criticize Trump or agree with a democrat while impliying that you normally disagree with them. Make sure of finishing with a glib "anyway, both parties suck" for maximum centrism.

Lol that answer. Due process is not for "normal law abiding citizens"... they don't need it! By definition, due process exists for (alleged) criminals, of all kinds.

Eventually... "It Has Always Been Weird That We Were Able to Make a Living And I'm Tired of Pretending It Is Not. Aren't our bodies made in the perfect shape of a serf, meant to live and die in service and at the pleasure of the Masters?"
