The hold came through... got the book today from the library TPL. So far just read the Prefaces... already difficult.

Indeed. The problem is, most people don't think much beyond today and next week. By the time they are convinced, it will be too late. Perhaps it already is.

Thanks for this, and thanks for your story. Found the book at the Toronto Public Library and now have it on hold.

Yes. All my cats have been stray. Found her in a parking lot when she was just a kitten. That was 22 years ago. She has been through a lot with us!

She is also in the last stages of life. 😿 She is 22. Quite old for a cat. Her kidneys are failing, though fluids have kept her going for 2 years. Two extra years as far as we are concerned! 😁

Seems so. But the UK is not alone. I think it depends on how parties use the "Trump effect". Our liberals were able to make it the issue of the election. They did not secure a majority, but they had a massive comeback.
Sad that UK is in the same boat as Romania.

Sounds like the UK is following the USA. It looked like that was going to happen in Canada a year ago... until we saw what Trump was really like. Hopefully the UK will learn that lesson as well.

I was thinking the same thing. Think of it this way. The rest of the world is learning from America's mistakes.

The key: it was "under Biden". Donald said that everything "under Biden" was a failure. And they made it so.
Just like gas is 1.98 under Trump.
Remember, reality doesn't matter as long as their side has power. And Donald tells them it's so.

Indeed! Funny how many people (particularly queer people) look back at high school and remember the bad parts. I knew I was different, not yet out, but had some great friends who supported me discovering who I was/am.

I've seen some of that. Internationally it's even worse, since many countries and provinces have a high Catholic population. I know Trump doesn't care, but it just shows what a bad "leader" he is, having respect for nothing but his own imagined power.

Exactly. It's been building since the apocalyptic movement of the 70s and 80s, which produced an isolated "Christian" culture built on myths of power over the evils of "the world". It's particularly sad to see the traction it has in the US.At least the rest of the world is waking up.

And yet typical MAGA.
Soon to be typical America.

Thank you. I spent two decades in the States. Joining the US sounds attractive, but i don't think Alberta would be respected if they left Canada. Americans like Trump dangle 51st statehood, but they intent little more than being another territory.

Much though I agree completely, those are the same people who search Google for the answer they want, rather than the correct answer. You tell them the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it makes them.

Unfortunately those are the people who chose to be spoonfed by others who profit from ignorance.

Some of us understood what we was saying, even back then. Unfortunately we were not the ones in power. Nature is paying the price.
