There was no concept of hell (or heaven as a place where humans would go when we die) in the Old Testament.

And I would argue that Old Testament rules against homosexuality were more about the survival of the Hebrews as a race than homosexuality. They basically banned anything that wouldn't make a baby. God even killed a guy who wouldn't stop using the pull out method

Like, his writing about homosexuality being a sin was actually targeted at - I believe - a Greek church and was specifically referring to pederasty

I've always thought it was a mistake to canonize St. Paul's letters as books of the Bible because he was writing specific messages for specific churches with specific problems and weren't meant for everyone everywhere

Like, remember when Jesus got mad at a fig tree for not bearing figs out of season so he just cursed it to never bear fruit again? Or the fact that the woman who touched his cloak to heal herself was suffering from a 10-year period?

I read the whole Bible over a year or two when I was a kid. There's one story about a prostitute who's gang-raped by a whole town, who then proceed to chop her up and send her body parts to other towns. Never heard that one in church.

So, Evolution is blasphemy because God obviously told us exactly how he made the earth, and why wouldn't God be literal? Except money being the root of all evil and Jesus talking about rich people not being allowed into heaven. Those were generalizations, of course

So, basically how an Evangelical interprets the Bible is obviously what God intended because he's the one who wrote it and everyone who's ever touched the Bible - pre and post canonization - was influenced by the Holy Spirit, who can see across the entirety of space-time

I thought the same thing until we read the graphic novel in my comics course in college
