The first article begins with a short history of the approach

This won't kill it, it will just hurt people with lower incomes. It needs to be carefully dismantled by enlightened governments. We are a bit short on those however.

I've got a kite with 800 m of line and I have used most of it on one occasion. So it must have been at 200 or 300 m.

Vsauce puts all this well:

Thanks. It was great to host you all.

I returned two objectives to Nikon with damaged front elements. It took several months to get them back and cost was about 50% of new. A different time I returned an objective that seemingly spontaneously started to produce a horrible PSF. Took many months but was never charged.

I was loosely involved in a study of the effects of space flight on kidney function. Punchline is that astronauts might make it to Mars but the radiation means they would likely need dialysis on the return. www.eurekalert.org/news-release...

It's a dangerous game. It starts ok then you end planning your holidays based on light pollution maps. Then you want even darker skies and you end up in the desert surrounded by hundreds of tarantulas.

I also have a telescope. Or two. Or three... More to chat about on the 14th!

My theory is they don't care either way. They just want to sow chaos to mask their real goal: taking over the security apparatus to enable marshall law if necessary.

Definitely this too, but it's not the root cause. The root cause is is too much money in politics. Campaigns should have limited durations and strict finance rules. Once you throw out finance rules (supposedly in the name of freedom of speech) you have sold out democracy.

Nice, what is the labelling here exactly?

Because there is no meaningful alternative. That's the point of the suggestion to ban donations from rich special interests.

This is crazy. Is this for real? Who came up with this list and how can it be enforced?

Because these are the arrogant and clueless ones. The ones that use a neighbouring frame don't get caught.

For a few reasons, none of the relatively simple tile scanning scenarios I had with demo samples were covered by the built in options. I like the fact that JOBS exists and see the benefits, of course.

The Tories are scared of Faridge and are shifting further right to chase those votes. This leaves a void that allows Labour to have no discernable climate policy and get away with it.

We also are installing around April. Looking forward to it. My only reservation is that tile-scanning, which should be a core feature, requires developing a Job.

I never thought I would ever quote Mike Pence, but this feels fitting today.

I see it in the UK.

It's likely not, no. However, I don't think a polite email to the last author stating your case will cause any damage. "I saw the preprint. I feel I contributed intellectually to the work. I was a bit disappointed not to be listed as an author. Perhaps we should talk to discuss this?"

This sort of thing happens when things end in a non-amicable way. I've seen it before. A polite email to the ex is worth a shot. If there is pushback, ask yourself how much you want this. Where is the paper likely to be published? Where in the author list do you think you will end up if you push?

This is so insane it's hard to take in.
