I think the target CERTAINLY matters, and actual destruction of property always seems counterproductive, but what if say, the person makes a Free Palestine sign & places it next to the business’s “We Stand With Israel” sign. Things get complicated.

And that’s their right, but it doesn’t make it objectively “true” in the world, much like many pro-lifers believe an abortion literally kills a baby—again, I respect their right to that believe but it’s not an objective scientific fact. Also “expression” is not the same as “immutable trait.”

Now CERTAINLY some people commit hate crimes WITHIN their supposed activism (our local kosher shop just had a brick thrown through its window—a bad look for the pro-Palestinian movement to be sure!), but Zionists are INVESTED in making the two “identities” inseparable, so where does that land us???

The framing here is telling. They refer to “hate crimes” which by definition are about immutable identity. THEY are the ones creating a tautological definition that conflates antisemitism & anti-Zionism. Is writing “Free Palestine” on a sidewalk a “hate crime”? The ADL says yes & they are wrong.

I agree that a million in downtown boston would be extremely packed. Looking forward to seeing the actual stats coming out of all the cities but the headline is orders of magnitude more people came out yesterday to hate on Trump than to celebrate him.

Looking through the reports, I’m seeing 1M as the high number only reported by a few outlets, but many others saying “hundreds of thousands,” so I don’t doubt your experience, but it seems the number was quite high (& that perhaps some outlets rounded up for emphasis).
