Agreed, but.... Dictatorship and profiteering are part and parcel. The more that public officials can profit from holding office, the tighter the grip of the oligarchy becomes on the workings of government. Undo the money and you weaken the tyranny.

Because they still don't think that could happen to them. They are on the right side, and everybody on their side will always reciprocate their loyalty. Some nutjob gun nut, though, could go after anybody, and that scares them down to their toes.

I'm old. The appeal of electronic gizmos goes right by me without landing, so it seems to me that people who try to have conversations with computers are already in a spiral, delusional or not. Go outside.
