Agreed, the question is, can a city council that more accurately represents this city do anything about it? Probably not, but at least, unlike before, there will be a fight about it.

True story: I was at a Phillies game once with family and arguing with my uncle about the DH (he was against, I was for-mainly because of Edgar). During the argument, Lidle got up to bat and promptly homered, immediately losing me the argument. RIP

What’s crazy is how this has become acceptable among middle class liberal types. It has to be ceaselessly mocked

Their first two albums were big for me in high school, saw them at a tiny club before they got famous. Forgot about them besides seeing them open for RATM. Heard “Savior” on the FM radio last year in eastern WA and remembered they rule. Pleasantly been making my way through their discography since 🤘

There was a Dershowitz-Finkelstein debate redux months ago and when Finkelstein brought up genocidal statements by Netanyahu, iirc Dersh claimed it was irrelevant to policy and besides, Netanyahu would be out of office soon. I guess being PM for most of past 3 decades makes your opinion irrelevant.

Jacobin has written the same article a dozen times about how Americans aren’t actually nostalgic for factories, but unions. Even at the height of employment in US manufacturing, assembly line work was synonymous with alienation, boredom, and emptiness.

I think there was already a lot of nineties rock on vinyl originally and with the vinyl revival the past 15-20 years it’s very commonly re-pressed.

Dude hadn't had an original thought in 10 years when he was a college junior...and hasn't had an original thought since. And he's basically running the country.
