Oh, no no no! I take far more than 2 hours. I hear the language in my head. I highlight passages I love, or think are important, and annotate with things the passages remind me of. I'm in deep conversation with the book. And I can even do this WHILE drinking coffee.

There are some real cuties in the nearby St. Luke/Montrose Cemeteries too. The ambulances go by, and these babies try to howl along with them. It's ADORABLE.

An author I admire is guest editor for a magazine where I submitted a story. I got a polite rejection, but it's signed by that author, meaning he actually read one of my stories! I'm printing out that rejection, folding it up, and sticking it in my copy of his first novel. Improvement motivation.

There is a world where Sarah Isgur drawing these equivalencies in the category of "executive overreach" could be cutting-edge satire because of how obviously unequivalent they are. This isn't that world. She means it.

The way British people say "have a cuddle" is very PG and yet also inutterably profane. I can't explain it and don't need to

If a pro journalist can just barely talk down the heavily armed and armored police officer who has lost his shit, what chance do the rest of us have?

not to lib out but when was the last time a news reporter was on the ground, on national television, and directly attributed blame to the police for violence and brutality

Chicago

Just finished up at the Evanston No Kings rally. It was safe, peaceful, and a show of solidarity by *at least* 1,000 people. Go to your local protest. Don’t let this administration scare you. Stand with your community when our leaders won’t.

This is how terrorism works far beyond the blast radius of the weapons used.

Trump Mouths Lyrics To ‘Happy Birthday’ While National Anthem Plays

On this day of #NoKings protests I was highlighting passages from the Deckaration of Independence that applied to the current administration, and it was a WALL OF YELLOW. Too much to alt-text my screen grabs, but revisit to the source and see. share.google/dauuFewzeMZB...

If you are arrested today protesting the Trump administration in Illinois, I can represent you pro bono. Email me at [email protected].

I'm a human rights lawyer. If you're exercising your human right to protest on June 14, here are 13 rules I recommend you follow. No paywall. Free access. Please do read and share: www.qasimrashid.com/p/13-rules-t...

no kings except short kings

Fucking hell: “Minnesota state senator John Hoffman in Champlin and Minnesota state representative Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park were reportedly shot in their homes by a gunman impersonating a police officer.”

'No Kings' protests are coming to Chicago and the suburbs Saturday. The Chicago rally will start at Daley Plaza around noon. Follow along here for live updates.

Today I saw a Kawasaki concept of a ridable thing called a CORLEO that moves like a horse and runs on hydrogen. I kind of love this vision of the future.

Camus imagines Sisyphus in a flow state.

We cannot allow Utah to achieve a nuclear weapon.

BCS is dropping opening lines to their stories in a thread (and links to the stories) if you wanna see some top tier openers and read some cool tales And when i say "if" i mean get in there and read!!

The quoted post was responding to an article about how the right wingers are eager for protests against Trump to turn violent. It's easy to scaffold current events onto Star Wars, but the Jedi mysticism can be a distraction. The Jedi resist anger, not violence. Violence ultimately wins the day.

Laffy Taffy Entitlement

I get into my apartment building's elevator. (There are some corporate rental units in the building.) Give the man in there a smile and nod. I'm pretty face-blind. A woman gets in. Her eyes go wide. "Oh! Hello, Mr. Malkovich!" I give him another smile, as though I knew but was being cool about it.
