Very unassuming packaging :) quantum computer inside

Cool photos of our smallest quantum computer made for research and academia being delivered and installed in Italy www.linkedin.com/posts/paolov...

LLMs for programming feel like humanoid robots taught to cook with pans, pots and spoons. If we're serious about this, we should also invent kitchens for robots, instead of trying to shove the human-first tools into the hands of robots (who only really have hands because we have them)

Just finished a new blog post! 🎉 👀 This goes into a deep dive into Python's two new type checkers, Pyrefly by Meta and ty by Astral (the team behind uv and ruff) Check it out here: blog.edward-li.com/tech/compari...

I am making great progress towards quantum error collection

Just launched a directory of quantum software: libraries, SDKs, frameworks, etc. Covers all the layers: hardware control, calibration, characterization, simulation, compilers, quantum circuits and algorithms, QEC, hybrid computation, and more. 100+ tools now. Updates weekly. quantum.skyshelf.app

Current status

Tomorrow we host a webinar about IQM's unique quantum processor architecture — the Star. My colleague will talk about the physics and practical applications, and I'll make a short introduction to our pulse-level software toolkit. www.linkedin.com/posts/iqm-qu...

Scifi movies with paradoxical combo of intergalactic travel and medieval tools are onto something. At work we're discussing nanosecond-scale real-time electronics and quantum error correction, typing notes into MS Word, and Word LAGS LIKE CRAZY and renders TEXT at ~5 FPS on a powerful M1 Pro laptop

Breaking news, now in the open: we are building a 300-qubit quantum computer for the Finnish Technical Research Center! www.vttresearch.com/en/news-and-... The previous similar delivery of a 150-QB computer was a challenge, this is next level :)

We didn't deserve Delphi

Thank you Google for breaking my YouTube addiction rakhim.exotext.com/thank-you-go...

The best email I've ever written was honest feedback to the management of my local gym a few years ago

I'm changing from a plug-in hybrid car with a 2.0L petrol engine to a pure EV, and my road tax in Finland increases 2x. Yup, EV is more expensive. OK, EV weights a bit more due to battery. BUT one can drive the PHEV without charging, and it'll consume 7-8l/100km and emit CO2 like any petrol car. ☹️

Back in LRZ!

Munich is alright

@rakhim.org there are a lot of active blogs you might find interesting for minifeed.net i put everything in a gist: gist.github.com/baradusov/71... didn’t check if they have RSS, though

Love this track. Weird and unique youtu.be/dpbWPtVoDSE?...

My full-blown blog directory, reader and search engine (typescript app on cloudflare platform) takes 700 mb with all JS/TS dependencies. This is insane... but, a simple CRUD CMS in Next.JS — 2.5 gigabytes. OMG WTF

For some reason this shortcut is enabled in macOS by default

Why am I resisting the urge to pull all-nighters. What has this society done to me.

Great UX design from a local monopoly grocery chain. "Ei saatavilla" means "Not available", and for some stores it's a green checkmark, for others it's a grey cross.

Programming vs. Coding vs. Software Engineering How I think of the differences between the 3, and why programming does NOT (usually) lead to burnout rakhim.exotext.com/programming-...

Very cool design of a blog by @eduardoboucas.com eduardoboucas.com

Stuck writing and can’t finish? Remember: most things should be half as long.

I keep seeing this on some websites, and I don't understand... An open empty <canvas> over the whole body, so the browser sees the content as an image, and none of the normal items are available in the right-click menu. What gives?

New milestone! 1000 blogs on Minifeed! (and over 48k posts) minifeed.net/blogs BTW this page contains a huge list of 1000 blogs with 5 latest posts from each, is always up to date, and still loads in under 500ms. Still, perhaps it's time to introduce pagination. 1000 blogs per page? 🥸
