OH MOOD what a time for chostocondritis to be flaring up.

one time i went through a breakup and then commented something SLIGHTLY rude on his public blog afterward, and anyway I'm feeling way less embarrassed about all that now

I don't do this but I do love it. If I ever build my dream house, the front entryway will have a bit of a mudroom, including a sink for washing hands when coming in.

And I do think certain kinds of science do lend themselves more to policy stuff (like I do public health science and uh there are goals and the goals are health! And under different frameworks we can look at that differently and have different goals but like there's an overarching theme.)

Oh yeah this is definitely accurate but on the plus side now I can eagerly await Big Package Of Minis so really who's to say if that's good or bad 🤗

Like it or not you're an influencer now. I just ordered the two characters we didn't have good figures for, plus so many mooks (goblins, animals, slimes, and some generic orbs as mook stand-ins. Also battle pugs because honestly I just wanted those.)

😱 Oh no! Definitely ask if they can slow it down because um yeah the zhoop is bad no zhoop (apparently it doesn't bother most people? But some of us get what I can only describe as "spasms in the soul.")

Oof are they able to slow it down? I found the bad reaction much less pronounced if they gave it as a slow push. But then I slept through the rest of my infusion, so... (Different condition, on different treatment now, but I remember those benadryl pushes. Intense.)

Or that we had to explain why all of the grown-ups broke out laughing when Jim just lovingly said "Butter sauce"? Yeah I could have included more but I was tired 😴 Also "Jim wildly succeeds at all of their knowledge rolls" entertains me to no end.

My 9-year-old has the combo of "impeccable sense of direction, negative modifier to perception score" so like if he can figure out where he IS he can get where he's going. He just. Oh no. Oh no he thought we were in a different city and is using those directions.

(But there are also possible solutions. My laptop crashed during the bar exam and I am forever thankful to my scribe who hand-wrote all six essays while I dictated. It was definitely a challenging way to do an exam BUT we got through it!)

This can also cause challenges. I know I'd need an accommodation because, with the arthritis in my hands, I can't handwrite an essay exam (and, heck, for longer exams with a time cruch I have to dictate to a scribe who types.) If one is different, can cause problems with anonymous grading.

Have you tried choosing to be taller?

Sending good vibes and hopes that infusion (1) happens (2) smoothly and (3) helps!

It was!! I need a nonbinary/gender-is-????? Dwarven cleric for our current campaign. Which really can be any appearance of Dwarf, gender-wise. The ones we do have for other characters are plastic because cheap.

(Like we DO have local places but it will be a few weeks before I can get to any of them.)

I MEAN earlier today you posted a mini and I was like hot damn I should ask him where he orders minis from because I need some and I bet Bill knows a good place to get them. And then I got distracted and forgot.

Going for tradition, then. Understandable.

I know very little about Canadian health/funeral law. But I bet whoever did the seminar could provide info!

PSA! For donating one's body to science in the US, you do need to make those arrangements yourself while you are alive. Your local medical college likely has info if you search for "anatomical gift" or "whole body donation."

I know! I share the info as much as I can because my grandpa Mike was a doctor and wanted to donate his body to science, but wasn't able to (because by the time he started planning, he had Alzheimer's and couldn't really sign legal documents) so in his memory I shout it from the rooftops.

Good search terms include "whole body donation" and "anatomical gift" plus your closest medical school. Bodies are used for science/education, then cremated. It is NOT exclusive of organ donation! They can take whatever organs for donation and will then use whatever is left for the science part.

Gimme a moment to win the lottery? (For serious, if my wife and I win the lottery, our plan is basically to set up an Artist's Retreat space. Cottages, cabins, and shared spaces with good views and little nooks and such.)

Also, maybe--just maybe!--something that makes a bunch of lawyers go on epic face journeys while reading is also something that is likely against terms of service.

"Nobody has ever been able to fix that boundary and nobody ever can" In which I learn copyright law is a lot like trying to fence in goats

Love the juxtaposition of "This is entirely on the up-and-up and totally legal! But also here are the steps that should be taken to hide it."

(Then again I also forget to mention that, yeah, my eye is partially paralyzed and always Like That until I catch the provider halfway through a subtle stroke screening so... there are a lot of face journeys at my appointments. Sorry, medical providers!)

Oh man. The face journeys when I'm like "so I did some research and--oh! I'm an MPH student, it was on pubmed not on Facebook or chatGPT--my general impression is..."
