My grandma's argument was that if you faint, nobody is going to feed the twelve children. I think her litmus test very much was "maintain your baseline of health and wellbeing". I think the only way to find that balance is to try a few times. I've definitely overshot and undershot.

She always used making breakfast for her twelve kids as example: she made breakfast for herself first. She lived for her children, obviously - but not to the degree that it damaged her well-being (more than needed).

My grandma taught me that if I don't care for myself, I won't have the (best) capacity to care for others. I don't think she implied a hierarchy of importance as much as a necessity of process - but I have found that to be true throughout life.

I get there has to be a balance between talking about atrocities, not shying away, and confronting reality. We cannot pretend there's no Israeli genocides. We cannot pretend there's no US fascism. We cannot pretend these things aren't real. But it's not up to me to force them on you graphically.

Biden was as much a vassal to Israel as Trump is - so I don't think we'd have seen a different outcome here. Vampire man would've just said "Israel is investigating it" and it would've just been as it is now. Trump is obviously much, much worse in every other way.

I think Israel's US-backed genocide and the European complicity therein has permanently altered the text of almost all fictional villains from political thrillers/action movies that don't go for global destruction. It's hard to beat Israel in fiction without going "launching illegal nukes" for now.
