The tea party, and its inheritors have managed to fundamentally change the federal GOP. If you want that kind of change for the Democrats the levers are there but you have to put in the hard work.

Join the local party, donate your time and/or money, attend conventions, even running for office are other, more powerful democratic options open to you.

I think a fundamental disconnect here is of limiting one’s options to voting. If neither of the political duopoly candidates presents a ‘bare minimum’ candidate then your democratic desires just got more difficult to fill and requires of you MORE not less participation.

Pretty sure this is factually incorrect. The average dairy herd size in Canada is much smaller than in places without supply management. It might be fairer to say supply management privileges those who have quota over those who would like quota.

To be fair CSIS mandate is foreign targeted, but I suspect homegrown extremism is a much bigger threat in Canada than the foreign examples.
